Thoroughly enjoyed dining here. Having never been before, I was blown away by the unique and creative menu, as well as by the atmosphere in the restaurant. It was so lovely; not too crowded but the perfect amount of tables. I had an excellent server, whose name I didn't catch, but she made me feel right at home even though I was dining alone and never made me feel rushed. The food and drinks were fantastic - I loved that each dish could be traced back to Sam's foraging, and that he brought the dishes out himself. Really lovely spot, I would highly recommend trying this place out! Very down to earth :)

Great service. Knowledgeable staff. Menu changes frequently. Lemon verbena cocktail excellent. Sam likes to pickle fish. We enjoyed the mackeral he caught earlier in day. Chicken entree - good flavor but chicken inconsistently cooked with some being tough. Excellent mussels, slightly spicy. Blueberry compote and chocolate mousse nice finish.

Wonderful dishes served in a cozy yet no frills environment. The chef brings the dishes out to you personally. My favorite appetizer - the smoked haddock snacks. Delish!

Sammy’s Deluxe deserves some serious recognition. I ate here with friends last night and we were moved by our experience. Drinks include simple, correctly made cocktails and fun natural wines. The food is utterly delightful, nourishing and unpretentious. Sam catches his own mackerel and was serving it pickled with dill and cucumber. The house smoked haddock snacks in oil are unreal. We had a tomato & shishito pepper salad with house made cider vinegar and herbs. Best tomatoes of my life. Followed by spicy mussels, braised chicken, crispy hake in zucchini broth. Everything was flavorful, bright and satisfying - assembled with skill, simplicity and restraint. We were all buzzing from a perfect meal and then…dessert! Blueberry crumble with creamy homemade ricotta. Crazy. We went all out and didn’t break the bank – prices are great. The dining room is as inviting and homey as the food and our server Jenna was a total treat. You will find the most beautiful, down-to-earth food in Maine at Sammy’s in every season. Thank you for being in Rockland. And there’s a piano! Go play it.
