Easily the best venue for TIFF movies and Midnight Madness is not to be missed
Came here for a tiff event. The theatre was overall pretty nice, screen was smaller than regular movie theatre.
This is a great venue for a show. The seats are wide and comfortable with lots of legroom. The sight lines to the stage are generally pretty good as are the Acoustics, though they're certainly not the best in town. Still, given the location, and for a University theater, it's a great spot.
Great theater experience. I live this campus and I love this theater. One of my favorite TIFF venues because of its location. Lots of great bars and restaurants nearby but being on the east side of the festival it's got a more laid back feel than say the TIFF Bell Lightbox.
I came here for the first time during TIFF19 for a screening and was surprised at how large the theatre was, but disappointed to see how small the screen was. While I can understand that this theatre might be used for live performances more often, it's still a little frustrating so see a smaller screen when you're excited to see a film. The washrooms are located in the basement of this building and a actually pretty small. I really wish they would add a few more stalls, because there's definitely enough space to do so.
I come here for TIFF. It’s a great theatre, simple. It’s also more an auditorium and the right and left orchestra seats do make you twist your body to watch the screen. But I’ve seen some great films here. If your here for TIFF, the line-up starts and runs easy and turns into Church Street. There’s a concrete structure you can comfortably sit on but it’s not covered so be sure to be weather appropriate.
I attended the theater and unfortunately our ticket had been sold twice so there were several people with duplicate tickets. When we went up to the box office they were really rude and treated us like we had made a mistake, really horrible.
Was there to see the tiff People's Choice Award for 2018 -- The Green Book. The theatre was well maintained considering it was used by students throughout the year. It was also very clean because no food or beverages were allowed in the theater. The screen was in very good condition and the sound was good as well. I had to drop a star because the ventilation was turned off and it was really hot and clammy when watching the movie. The date and time was set prior to the festival, so there really shouldn't be any excuses why the vents were turned off. The movie was great and there were no complaints about the sound and vision taking anything away from the presentation. The theatre does have a balcony. Has a capacity of 1,237 seat, not too big and not too small. Other than the no food or drinks inside the theatre policy, I have no complaints watching movies in this theatre.
I'm a big fan of Ryerson theatre. I go see movies at TIFF every year and this is probably my favourite venue. Best seat in the house for me is on the balcony, first row.
Was there for Tiff. Air conditioning was turned off due to some emergency. They did apologize for the circumstance and had it turned on by the time movie started. Great theatre watching movies. Good seats wherever you are.
