I am currently a term 2 acting student at Toronto Film School, the campus locations are very conveniently situated in the Heart of Downtown Toronto, the classes and Studios are very well equipped and easy to access, the staff are extremely helpful and welcoming, the faculty is on a whole other level of resourcefulness and professionalism, I have met some of the best instructors I have ever had in my last 8 years of education internationally, the material offered is of very high quality and truly allows for the students to carve a clear pathway into the industry, and whatever the fresh student lack in professionalism the TFS team makes up for in their well managed and highly supportive environment! Lots of events and opportunities for collaboration with industry professionals and peers from various programs! Highly recommend if you are looking to get a solid Acting background!
TFS was one of the best experiences I could have with post-secondary education. I graduated from the video game design and animation program in March and it was incredible how much I learned. There were professors that caused me to take it down a star because unfortunately with those professors on staff the courses were not at its best. I still enjoyed my time through the program and am looking forward to where it takes me next!
My names Alexander Fox, and I’m in the acting program term 2 at the moment and honestly my time here has been genuinely such a extraordinary experience for me, I’ve never been around so many like minded people and I haven’t had such a positive environment around me. Also the faculty is astonishing, every teacher is actually unique in there own ways of teaching and give genuine critique to better our craft, all in all I love this school so far
I am so grateful to have found TFS! Everything I have learned has contributed to my success as a graphic designer in the real world. And the support does not end after graduation…their support caries on.
I think that the school is pretty good for people who want to get to feel of film making especially in today's industry. It is also a great way to network with all sorts of people here. Most of the people are really welcoming and nice. You get treated well in the school and you get a feel of what's like in film industry.
Went through the game design and animation program and can confidently say it does a great job at teaching the hard-skills and software required to succeed in the industry and build up a portfolio for whatever path you pursue. Teachers were great, most assignments and classes were concise and relevant, if you have the right work ethic you can really benefit from this school. On the other hand, some of the information they tell you during signup isn't fully accurate. Class sizes aren't small, they are sometimes small, there's no cap set in place. One on one's with professors only actually happen in a few classes run by the same prof, otherwise you need to request that time if you want direct feedback. The capstone project also feels very shoehorned in during pre-production and can cause a lot of headaches as a result. Regardless, it still does a fantastic job at providing everything you need to succeed, the negatives are more just annoyances than anything major but worth keeping in mind.
As someone looking for the most efficient way to transition into the film industry, the 18-month-long film production program was the obvious choice. From term 2 I knew what I wanted to focus on producing and the support I received from the teachers and staff was overwhelming. Hands-on camera and lighting training, financing, pitching, collaborating with other students through all stages of production that resulted in short films, and finally, representing the school at the TIFF and Berlinale. If you know what you want and keep showing up, this school can give you plenty of opportunities that will help you dive into the industry once you graduate.
Great school! Everyone here is super friendly and welcoming. Acting program is so much fun : Shoutout Ingrid Hart, Rosanna Saracino, Peter Van Wart, Julia Paton anddddd Kelly Fanson
There was a lot of really good teachers here, John Tench, Ingrid Hart, Jonathan Higgins, and I made a lot of friends here. If you did a lot of drama in high school the first few terms will be very familiar, may even seem rushed, but there is more to learn in the later courses.
I find everyone at TFS amazing and supportive. The teachers are great, teaching us things I never knew even existed. I definitely recommend.
