Ruth and Wimpy's Restaurant

The service: definitely 5 stars. Our waitress, Bobbi, was friendly, outgoing, and attentive. We loved her. Unfortunately, the food was awful. My tea had a funky flavor, my shrimp cocktail was okay but came out with a bunch of shrimp just thrown in a cup over a glob of (not tasty) cocktail sauce, and lastly, my lobster bisque was probably the worst I’ve ever had. To be fair, Bobbi asked if I wanted something else; however, at that point I didn’t want to risk anything else.

Excellent meal, fast service...Visited twice in 3 days for dinner. Owner is very accommodating and works very hard to make sure you have a pleasant experience. Will be returning on our next trip to Maine. Thanks Ruth and Wimpy's....

We are SO disappointed! When visiting Bangor from NC three years ago, we made the long drive and ate at Ruth & Wimpy's in Ellsworth several times. It was always great! We're visiting Bangor again, and ate at R & W's today. We were anticipating another great meal, but that's not at all what we got! What happened? The Lazy Lobster for $21.95 with two sides was a tiny, tiny, tiny chick! We had expected a nice 1 to 1 1/4 pound lobster. We left hungry, and we sincerely doubt that we'll return. We're so sad...

Not sure what all the fuss is about this place. We do not recommend. Food was bland and substandard. Seafood stuffed mushrooms were mainly stove top stuffing with a little seafood, some bland tasteless sauce on the side. We asked for horseradish, which helped the flavor a bit. However we then notice the container was expired 7 months and warm, stored on the shelf--this is a health code violation! Waitress confirmed it was kept on shelf. The shrimp and fries looked and tasted exactly the plate we ordered the night before at another not so great place. The Imperial seafood platter had hardly any seafood in the dish and the waitress left off the sides when we had asked for an extra salad. The Haddock roll also tasted bland, not much seafood but lots of stove top stuffing flavor covered in a flavorless white sauce. It took the waitress about 20 minutes to pick up our check and return with change.

Service is mediocre and food was nothing to write home about. Lazy lobster with drawn butter were both cold when they arrived. Big disappointment.
