Choose this for date night! We loved the environment, definitely great for date night or an intimate dinner. We started off with the calamari and the arugula salad. Calamari was crisp and the aioli was delicious but the salad stole the show! The goat cheese and figs went so well together. We then moved on to the Pasta Pomodoro with meatballs and the Veal Francese. I’m not too fond of meatballs but I would order these again in a hurry, boyfriend loved the veal as well. We finished it off with their Apple pie special which was such a great interpretation with their own twist. Service was great, waitress was honest with recommendations and was quick. Would go back in a heartbeat!
The cacio e pepe and the double pork chop were absolutely to die for! The salad and calamari and special ricotta torte cheesecake were all just ok but I would definitely go again. Atmosphere was excellent and so was the staff!
Decor is very nice and appealing. Lovely Italian restaurant on water street. However, the food was just alright. I was a bit disappointed by the Bolognese as it was too salty. The bread and calamari were the only great dishes. There is a weekday special of rigatoni with meatballs and that was also just decent. Meatballs were too soft and had an different texture. Unfortunately, the coke was also flat, not sure what’s going on there.
So the question in my mind is: Was this place as great three years ago as I remembered it? Because last night's visit wasn't great. The server Linda, was it? was truly delightful but whatever's going on in the kitchen and with choosing the wines has either gone downhill terribly in the last 3 years or I merely got lucky the night I went in 2019 and had a good experience. The pasta-fagioli soup was more like a ragu. It had white beans, half of which were cooked and half of which were dried and crunchy. My theory was that two batches of either the soup or the beans had been mixed into my bowl. The salmon came and was arguably decent, but the skin had a black grittiness, as though it'd been sauteed in grill-brick residue. It was unsalted -- that is to say unseasoned, which is not a trait that issues from a kitchen making sophisticated cuisine. The accompanying polenta cakes had just as much skin as the salmon! They were unpleasantly dry indeed. The dessert, which was a slice of chocolate cake, wasn't bad, but one could argue it had that tendency of modern mass-produced desserts to be loaded with sugar. At least its manufacture was outsourced to a kitchen capable of following a recipe, albeit one full of sugar and chemicals. The biggest offense yet was the wine. My goodness. What kind of plonk squeezed from acidic sad second-press grapes was the Montepulciano? Exactly the same question for the sangiovese: utterly lacking in any poetry whatsoever, along the lines of supermarket plonk. Worse yet, after I advised that the beans in the soup were uncooked and hard, there was no bother to remove it from the check! I merely got word back from the kitchen that someone was "sorry" about the amateur stew before me. So the question remains. Was Russo great before the pandemic bled off all of the restaurant industry's employees? Or was it never? I don't know but I'm not inclined to return to see if my 2022 visit occurred on a bad night.
Excellent lil place in Worcester for a great meal either romantic with your love or sharing the evening with friends and family. The Gnocchi was so full of flavor and light as air with a decadent sauce. The meat lasagne beautifully presented and tasted like home. Attentive wait staff with wonderful food and drink. Looking forward to my next trip as well as Sunday dinner there with the family!
Went for my birthday , and the place was nice. BUT it took 1 hr for them to take our orders and wine that was ordered took 50 ish minutes to arrive and the food was prepared in a rush. My chicken was soggy and barely warm for everyone in my group. We were in the restaurant 1 hr and 45 before even getting our main course. Positive side the sauces there were great though. Ps the service was not up to par either the waitress we had zero sense of customer service. This chicken was 100% defrosted from the freezer just saying ‍
Had a fantastic Thanksgiving meal with my family at Russo's, we didn't order your typical Thanksgiving dinner though. It was very good nonetheless!!! Establishment and staff were top notch. Everything came out fantastic!! Can't thank them enough. I would definitely do it again.Food: 5/5
Service was very slow, slow being an understatement. When the food finally arrived after an hour and 1/2, it was not only cold but the spaghetti sauce was unpalatable with a tinny like aftertaste poor quality spaghetti sauce. The woman who brought us our food, once we told her it was cold, responded with "Do you want it heated up?" with her rude and unkind response. We were very displeased with our experience at this place and expected high end service with a smile, and we did not receive either of these qualities. Overall for a so-called "Italian restaurant" the quality of the food was quite poor.
Great restaurant on Water Street, near Kelley Square, in Worcester. The manicotti was excellent; I loved the sauce. Our waitress, Bianca, was so attentive; she kept my water glass full and I never had to ask for more. All of our food came quickly; the bread arrived almost immediately after we placed our order. Elsewhere at our table, the Caesar salad, eggplant parmesan pie, and lasagne looked really good as well. Got coffee and mint chocolate chip gelato for dessert; both were superb. The cannoli looked great too. Loved the atmosphere and the music selections as well. Thanks again Bianca. You were awesome.
Delicious food and cocktails. We started with the seasonal bruschetta which had a goat cheese spread and I think tomato /fig? jam. My husband's not usually a fan of goat cheese but we gave it a try anyway and it was delicious. We both loved it. He ordered the sausage and rabe pesto pasta dish and I had the lasagne. Both were very good. The service was great and I loved the atmosphere. Looking forward to going back and trying more dishes.
