Came here for dinner and everything was just mediocre. I had huge expectations since I'm from the states and I was always told Richmond has good Chinese food. Service was a little slow. Peking duck was dry and the abalone had too much garlic smeared on top. The beef was super chewy so if you're going to order that you should ask for a knife ahead of time.
Came here for Dim Sum and it was pretty expensive for food that really isn't that good. The dishes weren't very flavorful, and our congee wasn't hot. Service wasn't great and we were pretty much ignored the time we were there. Every other restaurant we've been to for dim sum, they ask what kind of tea you want as soon as you are seated. at least with us, we had to ask someone for tea. By the way, the entrance to the parking is well hidden if you've never park there before it's in the back of the building, by Yaohan Center. I gave up and just park next door.
It has space to hold large parties which is a benefit for most Asian families. However the food is a bit on the subpar side. Fish dishes didn't seem as fresh as they could be considering they had their own live fish tanks. Food with beef and chicken are pretty good, but not amazing. Some things also tasted a bit under seasoned but that may not necessarily be bad for some diets. Staff is friendly and accommodating.
One of the few restaurants I would go to for Hong Kong Cantonese type dishes. The food quality, flavor and portion have been very consistent and never disappoint through the many times I visited. Price is comparable to the many restaurants in the area so nothing to complain. Best part is you don't have to fight for parking since it pretty much has an entire parkade to itself, not like other strip malls in Richmond where 3-5 restaurants had to share 20 spots.
This location of Red Star is a fairly smallish restaurant located in President's Plaza next to Yaohan. Most of the food items were okay like the siu mai and spareribs. Beef rice rolls were better and had nice soft rice sheets encasing the beef. I liked the soft and fluffy chicken and ginger steamed buns as well as the stuffed bean curd sheets in consomme broth. It's been a while since I had honeycomb cakes. Given all the airy holes, you'd expect it to be lighter in texture. The seafood efu noodles was a fairly small dish. While the noodles were good, it could have used more toppings. Parking is available - just don't park in the Yaohan area by mistake.
Great dim sim spot. All my favorites here including shrimp dumplings, beef tribes and intestines, sticky rice in lotus leaf, and their egg tarts are the best. To get there second floor indoor parking is the way to go where you can park up to two hours and you walk through a corridor to convenient walk right to the restaurant.
Got my delivery 25$, 2 small wonton soup 3piece each.. which doesn’t taste like other wonton I taste at other place it’s like crunchy.. I don’t know but it doesn’t look like pork and doesn’t say nothing more on the app what it is, just because it got "9stars" on skip I decided to order there.. Ask for soya sauce on the side for my steamed rice but did get any… Who eat just white rice like that with nothing?? I’m in hotel which why I order and don’t have access to anything to put flavour in my rice.. Soya sauce make a big difference for me!! They probably don’t read the note I guess..
Excellent dim sum with indoor parking. Excellent, excellent, excellent service. Changes your plate, fill up your teapots and very proactive. Tasty food, good ambiance and centrally located. Also right now, there is 15% discount for lunch, simply amazing.
Reasonable prices for fairly good food. Portions can definitely increase in size. Service- depends on who you get. Make sure you hit the early dim sum discount hours. Parking is great Parking: Easy and lots of spaces
Authentic Cantonese dishes and very friendly staff! They made my birthday feel special and attentive. For their dim sum, I would recommended Har Gao shrimp dumplings, Shumai with black truffle and steamed brown sugar sponge cake.
