What a fabulous Diner with SO much history. Food was delicious and the server we had nevaeh was fantastic along with the chef who greeted us with so much kindness and enthusiasm. Definitely returning. The menu is packed full of great options and the shakes are to die for.
Cute diner, nice atmosphere, and quick service! We stopped here after hiking the enchantments! Got a root beer float A+, some fried mozzarella sticks A+ and two sandwiches I already forgot the name of both of which were tasty! Make sure you get the fry sauce loved this place!
This is a FANTASTIC cafe, and places like this are the reason I don’t leave 5 star reviews for anywhere that’s just decent! I stopped in on the 4th of July since it was the only open place in the area. My server was very sweet and the food came out promptly as well. I ordered a bacon/cheese/veggie omelette and it was SUPERB. Unlike most diners of this sort, they don’t use pre-cooked packaged bacon. This was freshly cooked, whole strip bacon in my omelette. The cheddar cheese on top was great as well, not inexpensive chalky cheese. This is a fantastic place that I’d recommend everyone to stop in at. This is hands down THE BEST cafe along I-90 in Washington state.
Always looking for something interesting when we are on the road, I researched a dozen places between Ellensburg and Moses Lake, WA, and decided the Red Horse Diner might work out. Here we were on a lame Wednesday evening about 7 pm and found the glowing lights and signage that looked like a hint of yesteryear. We parked, opened the narrow restaurant door and found a compact lil diner, like from a scene out of a Lifetime movie or a Stephen King novel, depending on your point of view. A gal said hello and told us we could sit anywhere on the left side of the place, so we chose a half booth facing not only the parking lot to keep an eye on our vehicle but also with a good view of a rodeo program on a tv mounted high up on the wall. Of course, there were also plenty of vintage signs to read, no matter where you might choose to sit! One iced tea, one rocks margarita. Shared some jalapeno poppers, a 409 Burger and some sweet potato fries for a cost of $42. Not cheap, but that's how it is these days. Anyway, the burger was decent, the fries good, the poppers all right. Not gourmet, but real American road food, fried and all that, you know what I mean. Service was good, not intuitive, but good. Booth seating surfaces in dire need of something better than a duct tape fix for the rips in the vinyl. Decor was the best thing because for us oldsters it was memory lane. Enjoyed remembering all the times and places we had seen so many of the signs. Of note: Good parking lot so if you're driving a rig, RV or towing a boat, it might be kinda nice to stop here for the easy parking Fairly clean restrooms. Fun Bulletin boards you can peruse for hours if you feel like it. Overall, yup. Recommended. Kid-friendliness: They have booster seats, booths to corral the kids too. Parking: Wide open parking in non busy times
The wife and I took a trip to Ellensburg to try Red Horse Diner. I got the duel exhaust with bacon and onion rings. My wife got the T Bird with fries. My burger was great, the onion rings were pretty good but very few for the extra cost. My wife's chicken sandwich was hard for her to eat, chicken was way over cooked and she could only bite through about half of the chicken "really tough ". So mine was great but hers was not. The biggest problem I had was the 45 min wait for the food to show up from the time we ordered and when the waitress took the order was the only time we seen her. Well until she brought the food, no water service, no hey would you like somthing else to drink, no update nothing. Still no refill on the water, dropped the food and left until we were done and she brought the check. I watched while other waitresses served other people checking on them refills, normal service. So for us service was not great. I had high hopes for this place and it failed a bit. I will go back sometime and hope to get a different waitress because the burger was very good. Next time Red Horse. Oh ya the place is pretty cool in side and out lots of old signs and things. If you are going through Ellensburg check it out Order A Burger
The inside was very comfy and a fun place to take pictures in. The food however was basic at best. The salad was meh, same with the chicken fried steak. The onion rings we got were slightly burnt. The mash potatoes were pitiful. Although I do recommend the jalapeño poppers, friend mushrooms, steak fries, and the milkshakes. My friends also happily finished there chili and gumbo soup as well. The bathrooms are very spacious and clean. The server we had was not the friendliest. They also kept on going in the back and we would have to get there attention from the front of the counter to request other items. Overall, maybe a place to visit once for pictures and for a quick pick me up.
Really good food, and the staff are very friendly and professional, definitely a "go back to" place !!Food: 4/5
Bloody Mary was delicious! The burger we ordered and fries were awesome. I loved the old school decor inside and outside. It took quite a while to get our food, but it was worth it, and I enjoyed myself. I love that there was such a big outdoor area too.
While traveling from Seattle to the tri-cities we stopped at the halfway point to take a break so we decided to get a bite to eat. We decided to visit the Red Horse and I can say we were very pleasantly surprised. The food was top notch and the service by our waitress Samantha was outstanding. After getting us our food she made sure everything was going well without hovering and making us feel like we were being bugged. The burger and steak fries were outstanding and my fiancée absolutely loved her BLT and onion rings. We will be back the next time we are out that way.
