I was blown away with the awesome experience we had here! Bill the owner takes so much pride in this business and it really shows. It is tough to find people in the restaurant industry that are knowledgeable and passionate about beer and who serve it correctly. As a beer nerd and a Certified Cicerone I can say with absolute certainty that this bar is doing beer right! With an amazing selection of classic styles from around the world to Calgary’s best craft brewers Bill has curated a brilliant beer list. The food menu pays homage to the classic brewing regions of the world, inspired by German, British, Czech and Belgium tapas, snacks and share plates— it is flavourful and delicious! So happy we have this awesome business here in our city. I will be coming back many more times!
Really awesome spot, in the heart of Inglewood. Passionate staff and great selection of beer. Pretty much a wine bar but for beer. Food is really good, and general vibe is really chill. Lots to look at and chat about. Menu comes with a modern day crossword puzzle, ask for a pen. Very clever, can’t want to go back!
AMAZING! I can’t believe we didn’t find this place until now. Love the idea of “wine bar, for those who prefer craft beer”. The food was absolutely delicious, really unique creations, haven’t had anything like this. The Potato Rosti was my favourite. I’m so glad we found this restaurant, we’ll definitely be coming back!!
We cannot say enough good things about this place. We arrived and got lucky enough to have the table under the skylight, which was magical. The service was impeccably awesome from Bill and Jane! We had an absolute blast enjoying the wide and eclectic beer selection paired with food that was entirely too good to be true. We ordered the Knödel, pickled gizzards, chicken wings, the Welsh Rarebit, and some charcuterie. It was all fantastic, but our favourites were the Rarebit and the Knödel for sure. The eccentric design of the lamps and art make for a fun viewing experience and add to the comfortable atmosphere. There wasn't a single TV to be found which is great for those who don't care about watching sports, and the menu was a treat hilarious pictures, horoscopes, D&D references, and a crossword puzzle. Our little group has decided this is a place we must visit regularly.
Excellent food and amazing service. It was our first time eating here and we were overwhelmed by the menu at first. Our server explained the dishes with genuine enthusiasm, and we landed up with a delicious meal that was whimsical and tasty. The pickle platter is a must - a variety of pickled vegetables presented beautifully. The roti was incredible! Overall an amazing experience and we will be back.
Cool place with unique interior and atmosphere. Unfortunately, hot dogs were sold out at 8pm on Saturday night, but we had delicious leberkase sandwich and melted maple flan. Would definitely stop by next time for drinksFood: 5/5
Came here for dinner with friends. Service was great, server was well educated on the food and was able to help with recommendations. She keep our table full and water glasses full. Decor reminds me of your grandma's house with old portraits and antiques and warm lighting. Family style, I had: Charred broccoli in a sweet cream sauce, a little on the sweet side, broccoli a little over; Potato rosti, latke was crispy flavored well, haddock mousse was a great touch, the best dish of the night; King oyster mushroom carpaccio with FIRE, tasty, meat like texture with a smokey "charred" flavour. Food mates had pork shoulder which was well cooked, tasty with a mustard and apple butter? Sweethearts are small, but we were warned of this. Also had a cheese plate with bread and choose the Roqueford, Tellagio and Hercule. Blue cheese was smooth, and went well with honey. Cranberry jam was on the tart side. Had the Moody porter which was smooth and well balanced beer. Lastly had the chocolate bar which was a carrot cake bar with a dark chocolate coating in a white chocolate ganache. Ganache was on the sweet side for the dish. Probably would've been okay with a ice cream instead. Will need a coffee or tea to have with dessert. Wish they had espresso machine and larger selection of teas or ice wine or beer parings with dessert. Would be nice to have flights of bers on tap to try more than one beer. Overall: Nice place for drinks or a homestyle meal. Cost $12-$20 per dish. Dessert $8. Total for four to have at least one main dish was $50-$60 per person. Would return.
Hands down my favorite place to go for a chill evening with excellent food and great beer to pair it with. We always order food first and ask Bill for a recommendation on a beer to go with it, have never been disappointed. Decor, crossword puzzle, music, food, beer and service, everything is spot on.
This is a really cool bar that offers an extensive list of craft beers and awesome food pairings - I especially liked the pink guava pils, it has a nice, fresh and fruity flavour to it without having to be a sour. I found the picked egg with curry super tasty and really enjoyed the taleggio cheese with their delicious honey and mango spread. The owner, Bill, is super nice and accommodating, he really went out of his way to suggest beers that he thought we would like :
Rain Dog Bar is a great place to grab some awesome food and wash it down with some beer from their curated selection or a nice glass of wine. Great atmosphere, Bill is a great human, staff are friendly and fast and the kitchen is talented and creative.
