Quality Inn & Suites Yellowknife

I had a good experience at this hotel. The room was clean. I came in with doubts because of the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. After speaking to the staff, who are very nice, I do not believe that the reviews are true. Yes, it is one of the oldest hotels in the city, but the price was fair and the rooms were clean. I believe the heating is central, but I had no issues - it was nice and toasty on those -40 days. If you know Yellowknife, you know the type of crowd that gathers around Downtown - this is not unusual. If you are there to see the lights, they offer tour buses and activities to do. It is attached to a small mall where you can enjoy some authentic Filipino food or try the diner Ricky's. It is near the pharmacy, shops and grocery stores.

This hotel’s location is good, and we can eat nearby. But in the room, we can hear people out of the room talking and opening their doors. The worst part was there were people like homeless sitting on the lobby sofa that resulted in the hotel’s customers standing outside in freezing cold someday.

Great location, but lots of people harassing outside.nnShuttle from airport was great.nnShower didnt work well.nnBig TV was nice.nnTemp control doesn't work.nnDoor doesn't shut on its own. Need to slam closed.nnFront desk team was nice overall.

We arrived around 2:00 AM and get into our room. There was no hot water to take showers!nnI called the front desk and was told all the guests had been used up all the hot water and we have to wait until the water gets hot!nnThis was totally unheard of !nnThe lobby has only two couches that seats 6 people. It was crowded in the evening for all the guests all standing around that were waiting to be picked up for their evening event.nnFew more chairs would be nice and needed!

I don't know, I'm sure there are better choices in town. The no parking situation is terrible. Rooms are non-smoking but it still smells like it was a smoking room at some point. The locals are interesting. Fist fights out on the street where I had to park. People hanging around out front... Good thing it's only one night on business My recomendation - Spend the extra couple of bucks and try other places...
