We were having one last get away for the year and decided to camp at Qualicum Bay Resort. We stayed in one of the small Camper Cabins and it was really quite perfect for someone that doesn't camp a lot. You get a little cabin with very rustic bed (bring your own bedding), a small fridge, microwave, hot plate and a 2 person table in case of rain. There are very clean, flush washrooms close by and private pay showers (2 loonies gave a long, hot shower). Over all this is a fantastic place to stay. I would recommend bringing your own firewood if you have it. Wood is $10 per load and they aren't very big.

As someone that grew up in the area I know how this place was to how it is now. The owner put a lot and I mean a lot of hard work putting this place together and has done a decent job. Good variety to visitors staying there BUT the cement swimming pool/pond that was created damaged and severely impacted the salmon that used to live and spawn in the creeks in the neighboring area. Our creeks are now filled with black sludge and maybe 10% of the salmon spawn that used to be there. This is an example of commercialism putting greed ahead of the environment, destroying wildlife. The owner was fined for this but still the black sludge fills the creeks, I’m certain this is fecal matter or sewage runoff. It’s a shame how the cost of 1 pool for entertainment is at the cost of severely and negatively impacted wildlife and environment.

Been coming here for 5 years with family.
Great place safe no worries about theft and allowing children to roam by themselves.
Large pool, lake for kids to swim and play in.
Small water slide open every afternoon.
Staff are helpful and always polite. This year we rented a small cabin instead of dragging a trailer up.
This was fine just the basics my perfect but good enough.
Ice cream store in front fun to go up In a group for a treat after dinner.
We will be back next year.

We have gone here for 2 summers now, about a week for each stay. Most of the campsites are pretty small, and some are not very private, but others are fantastic.
The site we stayed in this year backed onto their pool/man-made lake with a big hedge between us and the next site. We had friends staying to the other side of us, also on the lake - could not have asked for a better site - it was fantastic.
Sites have full hookups, so that is convenient. Waterslide was super fun for the kids. A great place to stay, and plan on booking again for next year!
If the sites were a little larger, and perhaps if they didn't have a $2 daily fee for dogs, I would possibly give 5 stars. I have to say, not sure why the dog fee is required especially for those of us with small elderly dogs that only sleep all day. As long as pet owners abide by the pet rules (barking, leash, etc) I can't see why this fee would be needed.
