Such a great place to spent time on a picnic with some sports activities. Not crowded - just amazing spot with mountain views. we really enjoyed
The Xmas tree lot that is set up at this park every December is the perfect place to get yours. The inventory of trees is amazing. You will find different varieties of pine trees, in heights and sizes that fit your needs, and their price points are accessible. More importantly, your purchase will help finance the Trek Program that Grade 10 children can register for in Vancouver Public Schools. The tree lot is run by volunteers, including the students who are part of the Trek Program. They will help you out to trim your tree and bring it over to tie it on top of your vehicle.
This park is located right across from the Prince of Wales secondary school. The park is very large and houses, a couple soccer fields, as well as baseball diamonds, six tennis courts and dedicated basketball courts as well. Associated with the school itself. There’s also a backfield and parking lot area. The tennis courts themselves are asphalt and fairly well maintained. There’s also a wall of brick between the two courts so that you can hit off of that and practice as well. Often times there are lessons being delivered here as well. There are some nice amenities close to this park including a Chevron, gas station, and a coffee shop called MELO. Just down the street is a Starbucks located within a Safeway. Arbutus Club is also basically across the street. Cucina Park likewise just across the street. Surprisingly, this large park is not too busy. There are some organize leagues which appear to practice here however, it mostly happens on the weekends or during the school year after hours. An excellent resource for the neighbourhood and beyond.
I could see this park not necessarily earning 5 stars in the context of what people in general look for in a park. I don't have kids, I don't run on tracks, and I don't mind dogs one bit - so this park is sufficient! It rolls down a hill into an open, green field. There's a school at one end, some trees not many, and it's a quiet neighborhood. Good for a picnic or for launching a homemade rocket or something, maybe? It gets a bit muddy when it rains though!
Beautiful scene. What a great park to walk around at leisure.
