Campground is right on the Gull Rock trail. Has bathrooms and drinking water you can pump. That water is clean and crisp. Camp sites are spacious and private at the same time. Time of year I was there beginning of July, the flies were the biggest annoyance. About 20min walk away from town of Hope.
Nice campground have your own Privite spot with camp fire and big table , with have a water view spot next time . There is a trail with lopes going down to the beach , Fantastic scenery , host is very friendly and nice , we will be back few days laster to challenging the trail name hope !
What a phenomenal campground! The sites are very private, which is great. If you can get a site with a water view, even better. The tent camping spots seem to have water views and they look really comfortable picnic table, level tent area, fire pit, close to facilities. The RV sites are not all pull through, but nobody seemed to have a problem with that. Hiking the Gull Rock and Hope Point trails are easily accessible from the campground, a huge bonus. I would highly suggest visiting during the week when the sites are less crowded. You can book at recreation.gov or they do have some non-reservable sites available first come first serve. 8/17/20 - Back for a quick overnight. Even better weather this time around! They allow for 14 night stays here...really wish I could make that happen.
A hidden campground that is worth the visit. Porcupine Campground isn't exactly hidden because you'll find it in nearly all camping guides; however the drive to get here will feel like it was hidden. Porcupine Campground is surrounded by trees that completely hide the campground. Porcupine Campground is also the dead end of the Hope Highway. The view is incredible if you're lucky to be at tent sites 2 3, 4, or RV sites 7, 10, 12, 14. Site 5 is the camp host. If your RV is a class A then maybe sites 1, 6, 8, 9, 11, and 13 will be perfect. I say "RV", but I haven't seen anything that says you can't be at that site with a tent. There are all kinds of bugs flying around here, so bring those zappers and smoke coils. The benches are solid and the metal food containers are easy to use open and close. If you're wearing short be careful of the brush at sites 2, 3, and 4 because the brush is dry and sharp. Bring something to cut the brush back a little. If you keep going to North in Porcupine Campground you'll find Gull Rock Trail. This is a great trail to bike, but bring plenty of water.
Peaceful. Nice spacing. Hard to see other campers when foliage is in bloom. $18 per night, check out by noon, 14 day limit. Has cell service writing this from my camping chair lol Beautiful place to spend a couple days. Highly reccomend.
I selfishly thought about not rating this campground or maybe rating it lower than it should be. This place is a gem. Generous spacing of campsites, great views across Turnagain Arm and true peace and quiet.
The camp host was a bit extra but the campgrounds were very nice and well maintained. Paved road and parking areas. Will be going again.
RV sites 10, 12 and 14 are lovely and have the best views of Turnagain Arm. Very nice campground.
The campsite has a great view of Turnagain Arm and is situated at the end of a quiet road. Thick with trees and the sites were well spread out. Rather limited with tent sites with the only level areas right next to the table and fire pit, but an amazing site for trailers or RVs. Like many campsites in AK, potable water is accessible via hand pump well. A short walk into Hope and you'll feel welcomed like an old friend.
Nice spot to camp. Secluded with nice spots. Fit my 36' motorhome no problem in spot 20.
