If you want peace and tranquility this is the place! Very laid back....I read some reviews before I went, yes the bathrooms are old and yes sometimes you can't find someone in the office but it's no big deal! Family owned and very friendly. Just relax and camp..
Bald Mountain Campground is a family oriented experience of extreme beauty, tranquility and serenity. It is the way camping should be, simple, clean and surrounded by natural beauty. The river is beautiful and inviting with waters at a perfect temperature. The same Family has own this piece of heaven on earth for decades and they are always ready to help. I have been camping here with my wife, family and friends for over 30 years, and now we are begining to bring our grandkids. Love this place.
Reserved a site so I could hike Bald Mountain. Was told to drive around until I found a site I liked. Granted it's late in the season but that's unheard of. The firewood was cheap and plentiful and the staff was friendly.
Beautiful location in the West River valley. The family that runs it is super nice, and maintains a clean property with fantastic grassy sites. They cater to groups very well, because of this we have been returning yearly for ten years now. Decent playground for the kids. There isn't a pool, but the West River is the star of the show. Great casual tubing river and the kids can safely wade in the river right at the campground. Bring your own tubes. Many sites are very sunny and grassy, but there are some with fantastic shade trees if you ask for them. For this type of campground, I give them 5 stars. I only gave 4 stars so as not to mislead those looking for a 5 star level RV park. Overall, best value in all of New England.
Had a great experience tent camping, despite the rainy weather. We intended to stay for 2 nights but a family emergency came up. The owners refunded us for the 2nd night, which they didn't have to do. We had campsite B1 which was close to the office and the restrooms. The campsite was roomy and clean. The price per night for camping was very good. The firewood was more than reasonable, $3 per bundle and was based on the honor system. We ended up picking up a bundle in the evening and early morning and paid once the office was open. Definitely will be back, hopefully for a longer stay this time.
Their check in time is 1:00 pm. We were there at 9:00 am and wouldn't be back with our camper until 10:30 and the daughter of the owner who is never in the office was going to charge us for a half day for early check in to an empty campsite. We have camped here before but never will again.
Do not come here with your EV and expect to get even the tiniest bit of charge to make it to your next destination. Run your air conditioner all day if you like, but don't try to use less power at an off-peak time. Even though their policy prohibits "charging of hybrid vehicles" and doesn't mention non-hybrids, don't take that to mean that the policy won't arbitrarily be enforced on EVs. If you don't want business from EV owners why don't you just say so explicitly, rather than taking our money and then harassing us?
Attended a group campout. Really friendly people who own the place and who are camping there. Exceptionly quiet at night. Water quality well above average for a campground.
Quiet campground. I wish they had more, or any, scheduled activities. It doesn't take much to get together a bingo game, or a horseshoe tournament. Planned activities would bring a lot more to this place.
Highly recommend. Friendly easy going not pushy atmosphere. Rules are simple. Keep the campground the way you found it.
