Pelham Public Library

Well... I have tried to attend at the Pelham Public Library three times now to study in peace and quiet for an exam. While I'm very happy that the Library is used by the public for so many different activities and I realize that Library use has been modernized since I attended University (many years ago), I clearly remember the librarians "shusshing" people who were talking above a whisper and "patrolling" the library for people making excessive noise. The latest and third time I tried to study at the Pelham Public Library, I decided to go armed with ear plugs. The ear plugs are good ones to be sure; however, they did little to stop major incessant rustling of papers and tapping on desks and people talking in "outside voices" and right in front of the main desk nonetheless, nor did they close the door to a room at the entrance where an activity was going on and noise travelled throughout the library. Like I said, I realize library use has been modernized over the years, but a place where people can still sit quietly - an enclosed room, perhaps - with no risk of electronic noises, keyboard tapping, talking, etc. could still be offered and would be greatly appreciated by more than just myself, I'm sure.

Excellent library, the staff are always helpful, and they have excellent choices!
