It happened a couple years ago at this point, but I'm still upset about it when it comes to mind. Kyle Parker responded to my local handyman ad in Kamloops that he needed me to drive his moving truck from Kamloops to Vancouver since he'd maxed out his hours and agreed to my hourly cost. I grab a trucker km logger book and meet with him and drive to Vancouver. He didn't have much cash on him and argued that I was charging too much and he wasn't going to pay me more than he pays his movers. I mentioned that it wasn't really my problem and he agreed to the cost in Kamloops. As you can imagine, that was frustrating to have him turn me away last minute. He gave me just enough money to cover a Greyhound ticket back to Kamloops and promised that he would send me an etransfer for my time (3.5hr * 2 trips * $20/hr = $140). The etransfer didn't come after a week, at which point I tried to contact him. It took a few emails/calls/days before I could reach him, and he had an excuse why he couldn't pay me for my time. I tried monthly for a couple of months, and he always had an excuse. Eventually he got upset with my asking and told me to quit asking, then didn't get back to me again. I was hoping it was a one-off thing and wasn't going to bring it up, but reading his review here tells me this is his personality and he's scamming others also.

DO NOT HIRE Kyle Parker of Parker Moving and Storage. We hired Kyle on June 7 for our July 1 move and he never showed up on our move date. And now will not respond to any of my phone calls or emails. On June 7, I sent Kyle a $300 deposit as requested to book his moving company. We chatted on the phone at which point I told him that it had been difficult to find a moving company for July 1 because it was a holiday. Kyle explained that they could likely finish our job in the morning (8 am start time) and then be available in the afternoon as he’s used to being called for last minute jobs after moving companies don’t show up to move their clients. He laughed about it and I shuddered to think of those poor people left on their move day with no movers. Little did I know that this is exactly what would happen to us. My husband and I with our 5 month old baby woke up at 6 am on July 1 to get ready for the movers. We had a 4 bedroom house, so as you can imagine, there was a lot to be moved. We taped up last minute boxes and made sure everything was ready to go by 8 am when Kyle was scheduled to arrive. By 8:15 am we thought perhaps he was running a bit late, so I called (no answer) and we paced around wondering what we would do if they never showed up. By 9 am I called again and left Kyle a voicemail. From 9 - 11 we called several more times and still no answer. By 11 we decided to start calling other moving companies. Not surprisingly, everyone was booked. In the end one very nice man (Darren of Mountain Movers) offered to call around and see if he could find anyone to help us. By 1:30, we had a crew of movers at our house to get us out and to our new place. In the end we were moved in by 10 pm and everything worked out (thanks to Darren); however, I am absolutely appalled and disgusted at why Kyle would take $300 from us and then leave us completely stranded on our move date with our 5 month old baby. I am planning to report Kyle to the Better Business Bureau. Please save yourself time, money, and stress and choose another company to manage your move in Vancouver. These guys are a complete scam business.

I wish I had known to click the "other reviews that are not currently recommended" button at the bottom of his Yelp page. My experience was like many others -- I booked Kyle Parker for moving and he cancelled via text message 12 hours before the scheduled start time, citing a broken-down truck and a twisted ankle. I was initially understanding, because bad luck happens. However, two weeks passed without him giving a single response to any of my attempts to contact him about returning my $150 deposit via text, phone call, voicemail, email, and Facebook. I sent him a final text to inform him that I have submitted a claim with the Better Business Bureau, reported fraud to the Vancouver Police Department and that I will be looking in to taking him to small claims court. He did not ignore this message like he had all the others: he called me and apologized, described his poor circumstances, and promised to return my deposit within two weeks. I will update this review if my deposit is returned. For now, I cannot emphasize strongly enough: DO NOT USE PARKER MOVING -- he will leave you high and dry on moving day and then keep your deposit. Edit on 19-Aug-2016: my deposit was returned after nearly two months.

Worst movers ever! Damaged lots of my furniture and wouldn't cover the damages even though he claims to have insurance!!
