We used to visit Lucky Plus for the last few years but it has been recently taken up by a new owner. The food quality and service is significantly improved. The price is very affordable with reasonable portion. Unfortunately the noise level in the restaurant is quite unbearable after visiting a few times.Food: 4/5
Paramount is the new Chinese restaurant that's taken over the former Lucky's. We dropped by recently and it was fairly busy and very loud. The siu mai was dense and had lots of pork and some shrimp and shiitake mushrooms topped with fish roe. The Chinese donut rice roll tasted a bit plain. They did give us hoisin sauce missed the peanut sauce. The beef balls with bean curd sheets were nice and soft and bouncy to the bite with little bits of water chestnuts. But the bean curd sheets were non existent perhaps disintegrated in the cooking process. Speaking of which, we also ordered the bean curd wrappers with meat and oyster sauce. The sauce lacked flavour and was too runny. We were pleasantly surprised by the Shanghai style juicy pork dumplings as they did have adequate soup in them. However, half of the dumpling wrappers did break. I think part of the problem is that they tried to cram them into a steamer pot that was too small. Also, the pink vinegar they gave us for dipping wasn't as good as the vinegar that we get at other places. The fried vermicelli with pork and shrimp had huge jumbo shrimp in the dish. They were plump and snappy to the bite. The noodles seemed to lack some flavour and texture like not enough wok hei to get that nice caramelization. Not bad, but could have been better. Overall, very loud in here. Dishes were ok, not the best. But most prices are reasonable - most of our dim sum dishes were about $8 which I guess in today's environment is reasonable.
what used to be Lucky plus is now Paramount, the business became so much better after ownership changed, the food is pretty good just typical Cantonese food, and the price is reasonable, havent tried their dimsum yet.Food: 5/5
Had a Peking duck dinner a few weeks ago when they were first opened with good experience. Yesterday went for dim sum, the service was great and food was served promptly and hot. Regarding the quality of food, I found it was a bit greasy. Rice rolls and fried turnip cake are floury and chalky, for someone likes a lot of carb may prefer this texture. Fried shrimp and chives cakes are very salty and the shrimp appears to be over frozen. Food portion is good therefore we have left over to take home. However, the take home Chiu Chow dumplings contain something unexpected see pictures but no peanut; the menu item states dumplings with prawns peanuts . That's it for me! Probably not the next try. Edited..... Due to the request of my dim sum group, we made another visit to dim sum during the long weekend. We were acknowledged once we entered the restaurant. This time, I ordered something different from what I had last time. Food portion is still good, I like the rice roll with fish paste, egg tofu with Thai sauce. Food were served fresh and hot. Rice casserole is yummy as well. I also noticed that they do monitor the cleanliness of washrooms . There are free underground parking. Will I return for dim sum? Yes!!
Food is delicious and very reasonably priced. Staff is friendly and attentive. Dimsum is one of the cheapest in city and dinner set menu is great value.Food: 4/5
A nice place for dinner and the price is affordable.Service is pretty polite, food comes quickly and delicious. Definitely recommend!!Food: 5/5
Nothing really stands out. It's a good standby and when in the neighbourhood. The tables for two are too small for dimsum as there isn't enough room for all the items.
Decided to try out the new dim sum place in the neighbourhood. Hands down the most friendly and welcoming restaurant I’ve ever been, the owner was super nice. And the workers are friendly. The food was surprisingly delicious, and very reasonable price too. Will definitely come back, recommend!Food: 5/5
During my time in the restaurant I felt greatly serviced. Moving on to the main attraction—the food—prepare to be amazed. The menu offers a tantalizing selection of dishes that cater to all palates. Each plate that arrived at our table was a work of art, beautifully presented and bursting with flavors that danced on my taste buds. Very nice servers in the midst of the chaotic amount of people. Would definitely come back again!
Good cuisine. Amiable service. Adequate parking. Could be boisterous and noisy when busy. Clean venue though. Recommended.Food: 4/5
