Pacific Spirit Regional Park
"The forests, creeks, beaches, cliffs and bog of this regional park provide habitat to a wide variety of plants and animals in the heart of Canada’s third largest urban area. The park’s trails are also a great place for Metro Vancouver residents to get out and connect with that amazing nature."

Great park in the middle of the city. Easy trail of 20 min walk to direction there are steps in there. Than you arrive to the beautiful beach. There is a grass field for nice picnic. Highly recommended. Free parking on the street for 2 hours.
My dog LOVES this park. We usually enter off of 16th street and as soon as you get off the road and into the forest it is huge and very safe for her to be off leash and run around. Walking here is our favourite Saturday morning tradition! There are lots of other dogs and walkers to meet - just beware of bike paths and some trails that are not dog friendly - but overall a fantastic nature space not far from the city!
Unbelievably peaceful with endless photography opportunities of the beach nearby, the ocean, the mountains and the forest. A beautiful experience. Should stay with someone for safety and should always have a map or phone in case you get lost.
A big forested area with lots of interconnected trails. You could likely take many different permutations and have a different walk everyday. There were a dozen or so dog owner I passed. None of them had a dog on a leash as the notice says you should upon entering.
Pacific Spirit Park is as beautiful as it is big.  I only explored a small part of it on the northwest corner, near UBC Wesbrook Village.  The condos beside the park, on Bennington Road, are 20 stories high I helped build them and they are just a little taller than the trees.  Those trees are huge, to say the least. There are miles of trails if you really want to do some serious walking.  I walked down the Douglas Fir Trail and then came back on the Sword Fern Trail.  It was a really nice day for a walk, with lots of sunshine.  But it was also a Saturday and the trails were busy, so keep that in mind. Some trails are walking only, which is very nice, because then you don’t have to deal with all the bikes and other wheeled devices.  However, one thing you can’t avoid is the small army of dogs which seem to outnumber the people at times.  Most of the dogs are off-leash so be prepared for a lot of dog encounters. I got jumped on by a very excited dog and was thoroughly sniffed and slobbered on, but I didn’t get bitten.  Which is a good start to any canine relationship, and most human ones too.  I actually thought the dog was happy to see me and I was feeling pretty good about myself until the owner said the dog was just looking for treats.  That was humbling because I got rejected by a dog and now I have muddy paw prints on my jacket to remind me that I’m a loser.  It was a “Curb Your Enthusiasm” moment. Overall the Pacific Spirit Park experience was positive and I think everyone should check it out.  If you’re into photography then you should definitely check it out because there’s a lot to see.  It’s really nice to have green spaces like this in the city and we need more.  They’re good for your physical and mental health, and good for the planet as well. Dog-friendliness: Dogs everywhere.
What a lovely park to stroll in and find a wonderful feeling of calmness. It doesn’t cost anything. Looking for a romantic walk or just a lazy day walk, this is the place to visit. There are trails that are on/off leash if travelling with your dog Pluto or Spike . Parking is available on the street. They also have a number of toilets.
What a beautiful park! I came to Vancouver just for 2 days, so I had no chance to explore canada's nature, but this park made me feel more like Im not in the city! I liked the part south from W 16 Ave much more, because it had mostly conifers. It smelled so good there, the trees were huge. I liked it so much more then Stanley Park
Pacific Spirit Regional Park is a beautiful park to visit because of all the old growth forest. The most common tree I noticed was the Western Hemlock with some decaying redwoods in the center. I mostly went on the Hemlock and Salish trails and I found those trails to be easy snd straightforward. There's a sign posting at every form in the road and the trails are very clearly paved. There's even large garbage cans for dog waste at certain points of the park. The only con is that even if a trail requires leashes, dogs throughout this park don't wear leashes. The owners I've seen do manage to keep their dog from running up to other visitors. Dog-friendliness: This is a very dog friendly park, you can't go ten minutes without seeing a dog and their owner running or scrolling through the park.
Amazing park with great easy trails! Unfortunately folks don't follow leash rules so be careful with big dogs. Fairly busy during weekends and unsafe during the dark - so go with some company/ big group.
Beautiful spacious park with many trails, few people. Definitely doesn't feel like you are in the city!
