We visited on a Saturday, in the early afternoon so there were several other people in the space at the same time. When it is less busy it is probably more beautiful, and peaceful. Benches, designated or clearly divided spaces, manicured walk ways, grassy areas, trees, the pond and moving water. The space is aesthetically pleasing and relatively easy to find. We overheard a random student explain that the garden was created around a large kasuga lamp that was sent from Japan; after the namesake's passing. Ultimately it seems a labour of love for the people who maintain it, and an excellent retreat for students, locals and visitors, alike.
Nitobe Memorial Garden is a serene place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy nature. It's small but well worth the admission fee. You can take your time to explore the unique details of the garden and take in the quietness.
Beautiful, tranquil garden with many great design details. My favourite part was the tea house, which made for a lovely online meeting background. However, it was a bit smaller than what I had expected. Note that there is a fee for non-UBC students. It would have been nice if UBC made it free so that it is more accessible to the public.
Nitobe Garden is gorgeous and a hidden gems for me. The peaceful vibes and the cleanliness are on point. It's my first time here and I really enjoyed my visit.
Its very beautiful garden , been here twice this times. When the spring just start to come and once again, in the middle of the spring. Both is beautiful give different ambience
Beautiful and very nice garden you’re so little bit small to walk and you can cover it all in less than one hour but in the perfect and right time the year especially in spring is very very nice to go in you pay a little bit less if you are student or elderly
So cool and green and mossy. A visit very worthwhile the entrance fee. We bumped into a film crew with professor emeritus David Suzuki! Keep your eyes peeled!
Absolutely gorgeous place. The peaceful quiet garden with a variety of plants. The rainy day added to its beauty, too.
Beautiful small japanese garden. Admission by donation. It was so peaceful!! Absolutely zen place
Beautiful botanical garden. Visited in Autumn to see them fall colours. Don’t step on the vegetation and follow the trail. Must try!
