Story

Our Community Bikes (OCB) is the best known project of PEDAL. It is a full service repair shop, bicycle recycling depot and an educational workspace for people who wish to repair their own bikes or learn how to do so. Our shelves and bins are stocked with new and used parts, and our mechanics do their best to help.

I like the business model and the community feel and atmosphere even when it is crowded you will get some help at some point. But I have to share a bad experience. I bought a bike there in March 2017, and I knew nothing about bikes. I was offered a nice bike, the biggest they had. Unfortunately while I put it for sale I realized it was a medium 18,5" frame... They put a handlebar extension for free, figured I was set. The thing is I am 6'4 and developed knee and neck pains for the past 8 months which costed me a lot of money to treat, but I figured I was pushing too much or getting old early at 30... Well yesterday I visited rideon and the first thing they did was to tell me to try a 22" then a 23" which was actually the perfect fit. How can you advise someone to buy a bike 5" too short? Why do you even start a sales conversation when you don't have a product adapted to the morphology of your client who trust your expertise and asked your advice? It is unprofessional and unsafe.

The team at OCB are fricken awesome!!! Only place i go for tune ups and friendly advice!!! Life behind Bars is the only way to live. Went there again, this place has never let me down... Super-friendly staff (Janis n Josh!!) Thanks for another great experience!!!

An amazing Vancouver resource - parts (new and used), bike repair setup, bike repair assistance or full bike service (in ascending price scale). These folks run a highly inclusive and well setup operation for getting the masses on bikes. a real Gem.

I used to come here once a year for a full day to fill my bike. Spent quite a chunk on new tubes, axel, brakes as needed. Went back again and someone working there was just rude. I realize they've raised the hourly rate which is acceptable but when I asked about it the person treated me like I was asking for a handout. It's not even pretentiousness, just plain rude within a min of coming in. Picking a new place and recommend you do the same. The "community" title is a bit misleading to be honest.
