OTL Gouverneur Saguenay

I lived in the Saguenay and left 8 years ago. The night before we moved away we stayed at the hotel. At the time, it was brand new and I was very impressed, so much so that I purposely booked here for this short visit on my first time back. The one thing that struck me is that the parking lot still isn't paved...8 years later! This is a perceived high end hotel, otherwise worthy of a 5 star rating, but because the lot remains gravel, I cannot grade it that way. What gives?nnThe attached but separate spa was great! Unfortunately, the timeframe of my stay with short notice did not allow for a massage.

Stayed here the weekend of March 7th 2026 for my daughter’s volleyball tournament and we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was close to everything which made getting around super easy.nnThe beds were honestly SO comfy, we slept really well after long days at the games The hotel was clean, modern and the atmosphere was relaxing. Would definitely stay here again !

Nice enough hotel, but for the price we paid, I would have expected better. I can only assume that all the raving reviews are by those who had more expensive rooms... for those of us with 'normal' rooms, it was nothing spectacular. The rooms are small, no bathtub, no boot tray to put our snow boots so I am not sure how the hotel can expect to keep their rooms clean. The walls are paper thin, I was not happy to be woken up at 2am to the sound of my neighbour peeing. The breakfast was excellent, though!

Definitely a nice hotel, my only quibble is the restaurant, it's too expensive for just a normal meal, I get it that it's upmarket, but it's still a little over the top, room prices are competitive, but then you arrive to an expensive restaurant... Perhaps I should have researched more. I'd also like to see a bath in the rooms.

Absolutely one of the best hotels I've stayed in. Especially the spa and the gym, the breakfast that they have is fantastic as well all the food is fresh and they have an actual chef making you eggs / omelets highly recommend
