This is a really nice public space. Enjoy it while is still available for the public.nnThere are events every weekend on December but not skating rink this winter.nnIt’s a great spot in the heart of downtown and it’s a shame that they will be close it in place of an extension of another building like don't we have buildings enough already?!
“A Magical First Theater Experience!”nAttending my first theater performance was truly unforgettable. The ambiance was captivating, with the dim lighting and the sense of anticipation in the air. The performers were absolutely phenomenal—each expression, gesture, and word brought the story to life in a way I had never experienced before.
Built for the medal ceremonies of the 1988 Winter Olympics, Olympic Plaza is a vibrant gathering space in downtown Calgary. This historic plaza features a large open area, a scenic reflecting pool that transforms into a public skating rink in winter, and commemorative plaques honoring Olympic champions. Surrounded by city landmarks, it hosts concerts, festivals, and community events year-round. Whether enjoying a quiet moment, attending a lively celebration, or skating under the city lights, Olympic Plaza remains a cherished spot in Calgary’s urban heart.
This is a fantastic public space.nnThe events all summer, the skating rink in the winter.nnIt’s a gorgeous spot in the heart of downtown and it’s a shame to hear they will be scrapping it in place of an extension of another building.nnHopefully the plan for design somehow preserves some of this spot and doesn’t erase it entirely.nnThis is a city that spent a fortune on a blue ring on the outskirts of town though so who knows.nnHoping for the best!
A beautiful park next to the city hall with multiple events throughout the different seasons from gathering to show respect, concerts, art display to staking. This also allows for some landscape viewing in between busy downtown towers. Also next to LRT and convenient to visit. Recommended to visit at day time despite the crowed.
