The ramen here is excellent. Notably, the noodles' texture is super interesting in a good way and the roast pork belly is amazingly tender. There aren't many spots, so would recommend only for small groups of 2-4. Definitely give this spot a try if you're in the area.Food: 5/5
Had high hopes for this ramen place, but it wasn’t for me. Tried coming here twice before but it never seemed to be open when I tried. I finally was able to go with my parents recently but was disappointed with the food. The restaurant itself is cute, but fairly small so seating is limited even late into the afternoon. We sat at a bar area but they let us move when a table opened up. We each ordered a ramen, I ordered the sweet corn mazemen, my parents ordered a shoyu and a shio. We also ordered assorted tempura. The tempura came first. It was alright. Wasn’t bad, wasn’t stellar. My corn ramen was broth less but it was pretty tasty, though I found the portion a little small for $23. Both my parents ramens were super bland. I’ve read a lot of previous comments here complimenting how clear and light the broth is here but…like…it’s just bland. Maybe I just don’t get it. The broth also wasn’t even hot? The meat didn’t really taste like anything either. The noodles they use here also weren’t my favourite but perhaps that personal preference. The portions again weren’t generous and I feel like you’d be a lot more satisfied at any number of other ramen places in the city and would cost less.
The most delicious shio and shoyu broths made from mussels, clams, pork and chicken. Small portion one slice of pork, half an egg, one slice of fish cake but good quality. We also enjoyed the cucumber salad. Gorgeous interior design casual, nice basement bathrooms, and helpful service. Highly recommended! Well done, Mitchell Bates and team!
I love this ramen!! It's probably my new favourite in Toronto. Firstly, the decor is very nice with real plants and wood. There is some restaurant branded merch for sale as well. It was pretty busy here, but the servers managed to keep up. We tried the shio and shoyu ramen and it was amazing. The broth was great with seafood undertones, the egg was perfectly runny, the chashu was thick, well marinated and charred for a smoky flavour. The noodles were the texture that I prefer as well, with a bite. We also got the croquettes as an appetizer, those were delicious as well. Prices are on the high end for basic ramen. Highly recommend! I will be coming back
Really great service, and an awesome space inside with bar seating along the wall and tables as well. The patio just outside the restaurant is spacious. I would recommend the karaage: the breading is nice and crunchy and the chicken is soft and tender - packed with flavour without being overly salty. Gyoza was well made. Good dough and decent taste. Really liked the croquettes - this was a definite highlight with it's rich pork curry filling of potato, ginger, and onion. Love dipping the golden crispies in the tonkotsu and mayo they serve it with. I liked the Mazemen bowl. An excellent option if you are not in the mood for soup. The egg noodles were a perfect firm texture. The contrast of the sweet butter corn and the shrimp sausage is the perfect balance. It's sweet and savoury all at once and coated with a delicious spicy sauce.
Tried the shoyu broth which was great. Noodle texture not bad, onsen egg pretty standard but the pork belly was amazing...it's a huge upgrade over regular Japanese cha siu that most ramen places serve. The iced teas were very good, wish they were alcoholic though. Also ordered the curry chicken croquettes, seaweed salad and gyoza which were all excellent. Our server Vicky was super helpful and very friendly.
We got there around 7:10 pm and waited roughly 15 minutes for a seat for 3 people. The place was crazy busy but the service was still amazing! I had the Shoyu Ramen with an extra pork belly and we ordered a side of karaage and croquettes. The karaage was really soft and juicy and is a must try! The croquettes had curry inside and were so soft and warm! In my opinion the broth was a bit too salty to my liking but the noodles had an excellent texture. In total we had 2 Shoyu, 1 Shio Ramen, 1 karaage, and 1 croquettes and the bill was roughly $95 before gratuity. Overall the place was great and is a definite must try! They only take debit and credit and no cash so make sure you have a card ready with you.
Came here for dinner on the weekend. We ordered: chicken karaage, shoyu ramen, and sweet corn mazemen seasonal special. Pros: their curbside pawtio is dog-friendly! Karaage was juicy and accompanied with a cooling creamy dill dip. Shoyu ramen pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth. The sweet corn mazemen had chunks of fried shrimp patty same patty as their shrimp burger and a delicious chili oil. Cons: Service was slow. Ramen broth, while tasty, lacked an essence of creaminess and richness. Price point is higher than other ramen places, especially the seasonal special dishes. Overall: 4 woofs out of 5.
This is a very good ramen place. Decorations are so Japanese. Spacious, seats are not too close. Wonderful dining vibe. Even the washroom is beautifully decorated. I tried shoyu soy sauce ramen, and gyoza. The sear method of the gyoza is authentic. The cha-siu pork is very special. It was grilled before serving, the aroma was so strong and lovely.
Modern ramen shop close to old Chinatown on Broadview. The noodles are solid and the soup base appears to be infused with herbs and aromatics that really brings out the deliciousness of the whole ramen. The charred pork belly is top notch. Unfortunately, I do have to point out that their karaage is quite disappointing. I overheard the chef asking someone what the dipping sauce is made from. The chicken "strips" were overcooked and, as you can tell from the photo, the batter to meat ratio really made this appetizer less than desirable. The price point of $12 is quite expensive for what the dish came out to be, which really pulled down the overall rating.
