Located at the Distillery district, be ready for parking space hunt, then walk leisurely to the restaurant. Their servers are quick and accurate, they can make changes on the fly too! Their ramens are great, and adventurous companion can try Japanese curry. If sake is your reason for being here, it’s pricey but all worth it. We loved and enjoyed our Christmas lunch.
I really wanted to love this, since it’s so close by. The flavour was not there for any of the dishes we tried. It was just very disappointing overall. Service was really good. they were able to answer all our questions and dietary restrictions.
If you’re looking for drinks and appetizers then this is a cool spot to check out but if you’re looking for good Japanese food I would avoid this place. It is definitely overpriced and the price my wife and I paid we could have had a nice steak dinner at the Keg. The ramen looks good in the pictures but is the worst I’ve ever had. It is bland with no flavour and tasted a bit bitter. The braised beef udon wasn’t bad but was not worth $25. The spicy salmon tasted like it came from a grocery store and very small portion for the price you pay. The best part of the meal was the agedashi tofu, small portion but it was flavourful. Overall it ain’t a bad place but if you come here make sure to get a number as there are waits. The staff are friendly as well.
Was craving for Japanese food while walking around Distillery and decided to dine here for late lunch. Food were fantastic and delish! I ordered the poke bowl which I think was a lil pricey. And my partner got the curry. We also got free gyoza as it was their promo every Thursday. Server was accommodating and nice. They also have covered and heated patio which was great!
We were craving some Japanese food in the Distillery District, and decided to try this place out, where we ordered the following: salmon maki, takoyaki, chicken donburi, japanese chicken katsu curry, and the katsu curry udon. All of the food we had was absolutely delivious, but the takoyaki was the star od fhe show. The service was also very friendly and prompt. Will definitely recommend this place!
If you’re looking for fusion - western Japanese food, then it’s a nice place to go. Good place with industrial urban interior inside the distillery district. But if you looking for really good authentic Japanese food, you might be disappointed. Service was really nice, but if I might suggest they must have more staffs.
Their Fries was very delicious! I had their fries twice on different days I would definitely gonna come here and try the Miso Ramen on my next visit when I have my Lunch Break close to Young Centre For The Performing Arts where my college campus is. I would Recommended this place to those who love Japanese foods! The staffs, customer service and the greeting was friendly & nice
The food is Okay, not the best Japanese cuisine out there but I don't expect to eat authentic Japanese food in the middle of the distillery district. We had the ramen, karaage, and the poke bowl. None of those items impressed us and we found the items a little pricy.
Good restaurant. I mean there's nothing wrong, but it's just the little things: agedashi tofu was only warm, takoyaki could have a little more pieces of octopus, nothing major. Dishes in my pictures are half eaten lol The thing that bothered me the most was the tuna taco, where they used seaweed as the taco shell. As ppl all know, seaweed doesn't stay crispy all that long, let alone wrapped around rice. So you have chopped up tuna, easy to bite off rice, and then really chewy seaweed that's impossible to tear off with your teeth. And then it all gets super messy. I would say the taste was good, but there should be more thoughts put into the presentation, maybe using cut up seaweed? Or maybe switch to smth else that's more finger food friendly? Btw they offer free appetizer gyoza? if you post a 5 star review, so if you ever want a free appetizer......
This restaurant has a deal where if you rate it 5 stars you get a plate of free gyozas. Not a fan of buying reviews so I’m taking off a star just for that. It isn’t bad, but it’s not a 5-star place in my opinion. Food was fine, but nothing special- like a less mainstream and Japanese Jack Astors.
