We cycled to Nixon Creek and the ride and campground are beautiful! I emailed ahead of time and Tracy replied that they will always do their best to find a space for cyclists as her husband Kevin is a biker too. We really appreciate this as its often difficult to reserve/plan ahead when bike trips are weather dependent and hard to plan arrival times. Highly recommend visiting!
We arrived just before noon on a Friday, lots of sites still available. The rocky beach had morning and afternoon sun. The outhouse near our site was very well kept, no odour and was as clean as an outhouse can be. I took photos of a bunch of the empty sites to see the difference between some of the sites.
We love camping here! Beautiful, clean and spacious campsites that are quiet and private. The campsite hosts are amazing, always available to ask questions and friendly. We feel so safe having our kids run around and ride their bikes there. The beach is great, lots of room for all the families and kids to play.
Our favorite campground on our bikepacking trip to Vancouver Island! We arrived at camp and were greeted by the host, Kevin, who told us he was a biker too and wasn't going to charge us for the night and even gave us drinking water! There were still plenty of sites open when we arrived early afternoon on a Wednesday and we were able to snag a lakeside campsite. We had a lovely evening swimming and enjoying the sunset. Would definitely come back here again!
The hosts were lovely, we stayed for one night recently, such a pretty spot. It tends to get fairly windy for the sites right on the water. I can see why the windsurfers like it. Take care on the gravel road as it is a active logging road
Had no idea how beautiful it is here. Definitely will be back. Total family friendly camp ground and quality sites. Not to mention the four seasons all in one campground.
This is very calm place for camping at very end of Cowichan lake. The only problem with this place is there is 22 Km gravel road. This site has few coverage for phone and internet in some spot, No water tap and no power . You can boil water from lake. Weather can be weird from other close places be prepared for all scenarios. Staffs are awesome. Usually has room for walk-in people even on busy weekend.
One of my favorite campsites in BC. Quiet, remote and beautiful.
The new hosts are absolutely lovely! We felt so welcomed and cared about during our stay this weekend. We forgot to bring rope for our tarp, and during a big rain storm the hosts came to check on us twice - they brought us complimentary firewood, offered us rope to borrow, and offered to help us move to a site that was more inland away from the wind. We really appreciated their kindness!
This place is truly a hidden gem. This might be one of my favourite rec sites in BC so far. I continually explore and try many different rec sites. The on site hosts are so incredibly friendly, the whole place has a good vibe. Our site backed right onto the lake. Beautiful water and views and the breeze you get makes it feel like you are oceanside. Lucky to have captured a lightning storm while there too. Magical.
