Went here for a girls getaway. We stayed on site B7. It was beautiful! The site was well maintained and the picnic table was gorgeous. This site seemed to be largest of the B single sites so we definitely lucked out. It fit our 8 person tent and a gazebo! We were 15 feet from the lake with stunning views. Highly recommend! The only negative thing I have to express is the female host was quite rude to one of my group members. She wouldn't allow her to unload her truck by the beach with plenty of parking she had to park an additional 50meters down the rd. Which is highly irritating considering you have to walk your camping gear into your site's down the beach and it was 37 degrees out. Otherwise, it was a great experience!
The Hosts were absolutely wonderful. My son just loved them. They were very kind and accommodating, I had accidentally booked a tent site and they helped us find a site for our rv with no issues. They often put together events for the kids which my son enjoyed. Sites were all well maintained and outhouses were clean and well stocked. We spent most of August there and enjoyed our stay thoroughly. We will definitely be back again!
This site is beautiful, right on Cowichan Lake. Great for paddle boarding and a small dock for swimming. We stayed in B4 and B5. B4 was very small only fit our tent but B5 was a decent size. Brenda and Rob are awesome! They are working very hard to make this a family friendly and clean campsite. We will defiantly look forward to staying there next year.
We were pretty disappointed with our experience here. We booked Beach site B02 for two nights during a weekend in August. The photos online make it look really nice and private but that is not the case. The view is very beautiful for sure but you are smashed in-between campsites and there is zero privacy. We were next to a family with young babies and they were often crying. It's not their fault...babies cry, but the lack of distance between us made it so we could not sleep and it was not at all relaxing. We actually ended up leaving a day early because we knew we would actually sleep at home and not here. This would be a fine spot for families who like to camp and are okay with very open sites with no privacy and don't really care about noise level. I'm sure it's a different story on week days but on the weekend it felt like I was trying to sleep on the beach of a public park in Victoria. It's also very difficult to reach anyone to try and get more details ahead of time regarding your campsite. The website lacks detail and when you call the number it simply says "send an email". I sent 3 emails with questions before I finally got some email responses that still didn't answer all my questions. If you are looking for a quiet, private and relaxing camping experience, this is not the place for you.
The Hosts are amazing and really accommodating. We came back 3 times and extended our stay into different sites twice and before we knew it, spent a couple weeks around the campground. The beach is a bit sandy though mostly stone. It’s at the end of the lake so almost zero boat traffic. Many days the lake had only 2-3 other people swimming so it feels like a private beach, very nice. Boil water notice here, so bring your own water or be prepared to heat a lot of it. You also take your garbage out with you so bring some big bags or a can. The sites are shaded in the forest, our solar panel didn’t get a huge charge. It was enough to keep us going but be advised the beach and lake front areas get most of the sun. There’s a huge hidden rope swing if you find the trail that takes you there. Maybe if you ask the hosts they’ll tell you ; You can reach this from either Honeymoon Bay or Youbou. The road is better from Youbou so if you’re driving an RV I strongly suggest the Youbou way. There’s only about 14km of dirt road from Youbou but almost 25km from Honeymoon Bay. There is cell service here! It’s spotty though but you can average about 1.5mbps DL and calls/texts usually have no issues. Enjoy your stay!
What a beautiful campsite!! We didn't even know it existed until this trip. The hosts, Brenda and Rob, were both very friendly right from check in. I see negative reviews but honestly I can't see how. Obey the rules, be respectful, clean up after yourself take your garbage with you and check in upon arrival even if you're just checking out the sites for future trips and there won't be any issues. We will definitely be back!
Campsite was crowded and not spaced out. The owner was greedy to put so many sites together like that. The gravel road was long and not worth it. So many other sites that are better and not a long drive. The hosts were lovely though. I suggest Gordon Bay
Really nice campground! The outhouses were super clean and the host was lovely. My family and I will definitely be back.
Beautiful spot, out houses were clean, water to wash dishes etc. 20 mins down dirt road could use a bigger sign for campground entrance. We enjoyed ourselves.
My husband and I had a great experience here. We stayed on the beach side, it is such a beautiful place and the hosts were super nice! We are new at camping so it helped a lot when Karen gave us some good tips and advice for our fire, also Josh help us out when our tent snapped. We will definitely be coming back here with friends and family from overseas! Thank you so much for your kindness and hospitality : can't wait to be back!!
