We ordered sichuan boiled beef, double cooked pork, and stir fried string beans.nn sichuan boiled beef - 10/10 beef is so tender and juicy and flavorful, portion is hugenn double cooked pork - 6/10 cooked with lots of spicy green peppers, not conventional, pork slices are too large and dry, would have preferred the traditional style with smaller piecesnn stir fried string beans - 9/10 I’ve had juicier ones but it’s pretty goodnnWe ordered regular spice level, which is fine for my husband who’s from Sichuan, but definitely too spicy for me.nnI liked the decor. The posters are funny if you can read Chinese.nnPS. I appreciate them posting their policy of cash and debit cards only on the front door. The waiter even reminded us at the table.
just dined at Nian Yi Kuai Zi, and overall, it was a fantastic experience with only a couple of small things that could make the dishes even better.nnThe standout for me was the Spicy Numbing Fish. It was incredibly tasty, full of bold and authentic Sichuan flavours. The numbing kick from the Sichuan peppercorns was strong—in a good way—but I felt that using just a bit less would help balance the dish perfectly while still keeping that signature flavour. The fish itself was cooked beautifully and very enjoyable.nnI also tried some of the BBQ items, which were quite good but leaned more toward the sweet side. I personally wish they were either a bit spicier or slightly less sweet to create a better balance.nnEven with these small preferences, the overall experience was great. The food was flavourful, the portions were solid, and the quality was consistent. Nian Yi Kuai Zi is definitely worth a visit if you enjoy bold, well-seasoned Chinese dishes.
It’s our first time. We are from Boston, Massachusetts. The 6 of us were amazed by how tasty and authentic the foods were.we ordered a few signature dishes on the menu. Everything was so good. Jackson was our server. He’s incredibly friendly and helpful. Patiently described the dishes on both English and Cantonese. We had a wonderful meal at this place. Generous portion, reasonable price, great taste and friendly service.loved it!
Although many new Sichuan restaurants have opened, my favorite is still this one. It consistently delivers great food. Every time I visit, I feel the service gets a little better. The liver and kidney stir-fry, the beef stir-fry with konjac, and the fish in broad bean paste - every dish here looks almost the same, and tastes pretty much the same too, but there are still slight differences. It's just that after not having eaten here for a long time, I always crave that one bite.
This was our second visit here. We came back this time with a large group because how good the food is!nnThe restaurant was very busy on Friday evening, however, Jackson was an excellent host! He patiently walked us through the menu. We had 3 kids in our party and Jackson made sure we were well taken care of.
