First of all the food varies greatly depending on the day; you order a hot and sour soup and get varying results which is pretty disappointing as you won’t know until you get all the way home if it’s going to taste decently. Most concerning to me is that their website is entirely inaccurate: it says in bold writing that the chicken dishes come with steamed rice, we get home to find no rice. We called back to inquire and they said they haven’t offered this for years. Then why is it still in bold on their website?nnThere is zero info on what is in the dishes so navigating their menu, if you have diet restrictions or allergies, is risky.nnThey also have no prices on their website either which is very strange as you have no idea what they are charging till you get there. Last time they quoted my husband a certain price on the phone and because they ONLY take cash this in itself seems off to me he only brought the amount needed, so he had to go back to the car to get more money.nSeems very shady in my opinion and odd as this cash only thing had only been a recent change in the last few years or so. We stopped going due to their inconsistency in food quality and poor service a while ago, but decided to try them again as some time had passed.nnThe prices are also not that reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes;nThis time we only ordered 2 dishes and a med hot and sour soup and it was $50 and we’re paying cash so are they charging tax? No clue as they don’t even provide a receipt, just an order ticket for the kitchen.nCompared to the competition and considering all the issues I’ve mentioned, it’s really not worth the price point.nnOverall we’ve been to this place at least 7 times and it has been differed each time.nnTransparency, consistency and customer service are a necessity in the food industry, which they are categorically failing in. So with all the competition we will not be venturing back to this place again.
This is a relatively cheap spot with great tasting food and decent sized portions. We usually do take away from here at least a couple of times a month. I’m surprised to see the bad reviews and even seem silly as many of them are by frequent customers. This isn’t a fine dining establishment and we rarely ever dine in but it’s great for good food at reasonable prices with a short turnaround time. Our favorites here are the hakka noodles with chicken and the bombay chicken dry. The pakoras and chili chicken are also decent. We haven’t had trouble paying by card here even though yes they “prefer” cash. Recommend it for good hakka!
Visited Hakka No. 1 Restaurant with a few friends, we walked in and were seated right away. Staff were friendly, service was quick. Menu is very vegetarian friendly! We ordered Stir Fried Mixed Vegetables w. Tofu, Paneer in gravy, Manchurian Hakka Vegetable Noodles which were amazing, and Vegetable Fried Rice. Everything was really delicious and filling. Price is $-$$. Definitely recommend checking this place out.
It’s nice place , good to have lunch there, food is amazing and everything taste good and very decent amount. Service is good, the staff are nice it’s never disappointing to eat from this restaurant.
There are so many red flags for this place. They only accept cash payment; you don’t have the option to pay by card at all. Moreover, regardless of how many people are in your group, they charge a hidden fee of 13 percent on top of the bill + HST, which is not mentioned in the menu or anywhere in the restaurant. Usually, other restaurants charge this fee when a group of 6 or more dines together and mention it in the menu, which is fair. However, here, even if there are only 2, 3, 4, or any number of people, they still apply a mandatory hidden 13 percent charge on the bill. The food is not that good anymore. I would not recommend this place at all.
