Love the food and environment! A much needed dim sum addition to central coquitlam. It gets highly popular since opening and remains so for a weekday morning - nearly fully packed before 11am. Might need reservations for weekend to avoid disappointment. Table space is a bit tight but we still have a fairly peaceful and quiet brunch.Recommended dishesSteamed Chicken Feet & Sparerib on Rice, Shrimp Dumpling, deep fried shrimp spring rolls
Not sure why there are so many low ratings. We came here for two meals and both times were great! For our most recent meal all dishes were large and tasted very good! Everyone was pleased with the food and we will probably come back another time for dinner!
First of all, the place was HOT and incredibly stuffy. They say they are working on it so hopefully they fix it or there is no way we will go again with global warming. Also, I feel terrible for the staff as apparently it has been like that for them for a while and you can see them working in this very hot condition and they are definitely doing their best in these working conditions. The Pekin duck 2 eat, server slice it in front of you, not bad. The meat was a bit mushy, skin was not bad. The wrap was thin but don't like it at all, It ended up being very hard once dried up very quickly. Second eat was okay but you don't get any other options, I don't usually order lettuce wrap. Ordered their Chinese soup and one of the ingredients was MIA which was kind of disappointing as I ordered it cuz of that ingredient lol. The , pretty good, soft meat. However, as it was so hot and gross inside, I couldn't enjoy most of the meal. The complimentary dessert was a hot green bean soup that was pretty burnt so it ended up being bitter and I hated it lol. Overall, disliked the experience as everything was just off by something, it's a soft opening so hope they improve and maybe I'll come again in the winter and update my review. Parking: Mall parking
Went at 10:30 to be sure of a seat on lunar new year day. Previous experience said that even with reservations, when the restaurant gets crowded you can still wait an hour to get seated. Went for dim sum. They use a checklist menu with text in Chinese and English and little pictures, so those looking for a roving cart experience will be disappointed. They’ve cute-ified some of the menu items which can be fun. Food arrived in dribs and drabs with some waits so long we had to check the receipt to be sure if we were expecting anything else or if we were done. Conversely, when the food arrived it was hot and fresh, so there’s that. They are following the new BC bylaw and charging for takeout containers so you might want to bring your own if you are expecting leftovers.
mediocre service. They seem to be quite understaffed as it took a long time for servers to attend to us. I noticed all three servers were needed to showcase the fresh king crab to the guests in the banquet room for more than 5 minutes, even after telling us they would soon come by to note down our order. Other tables were also waiting on them for some time. Food is alright, but on a spectrum - some dishes lacked salt, others were quite tasty. • Sichuan boiled fish was more spice than flavour and lacked the mala numbing experience. • Shredded chicken salad didn't have the crunchy bits expected, and had a surprising amount of chicken skin - not really 'hand shredded' as the dish name would suggest. • Beef short rib was a specialty dish not on their menu, but tasted absolutely divine. Served cut off the entire bone, the sauce was delicious and meat was extremely tender. Would honestly come back just for this dish. • Stir Fried Pea Shoots with Garlic tasty and tender leaves. • Dessert was red bean soup, some coconut jelly pudding and osmanthus jelly - good. Overall, lacking service but can provide typical food options for dinner. Will be visiting other restaurants instead for better Sichuan boiled fish, but will come here again to try other dishes.
I’m glad this franchise opened a location in Coquitlam after the one at Hard rock casino closed down. It was a nice and easy place to gather for a function and then go entertain ourselves after haha - this location is easily located at Coquitlam centre where Montana’s used to be and beside Best Buy’s external entrance. There are “two sides” one for more casual dining and one I believe open for larger parties or weekends. We went early on Monday night so it was a bit quiet which was perfect for my family. The dishes are both reasonable yet a little pricey let me make sense of my nonsense! the siu mai and other dimsum dishes were more extravagantly priced at around $8.95 and higher which is a heftier price - however, the portion and quality tasted good! I don’t know if I could afford a full dimsum feast there but for what my dad was craving it worked out just fine. The gai lan, albeit simple, is just comforting veggies in a meal but were also pricey at $15.95 given the portion size. Usually we would pay more premium prices for pea tips but regular gai lan just seemed like a lot than usual. The sukiyaki hot pot was phenomenal! It came in at $17.95 but I really enjoyed it making its purchase worth it for my personal experience. The egg was a perfect addition and well flavoured similar to a ramen egg and the beef was tender. The broth was delicious and I recommend pairing this with rice comes with choice or vermicelli or rice but as sukiyaki already has vermicelli in it then rice is the way to go. It also comes with crab stick, squid, enoki mushroom, bean curd, tofu and tomato. It is not a traditional Japanese sukiyaki but it was still comforting and enjoyable. We also ordered crispy chicken chow mein $16.95 but I forgot to snap a picture. It was a good portion and perfectly crispy. The staff are so nice here and as of December 5, they wear masks. The service is courteous and I enjoy dining here!
Dim sum are in good shape, look detailed and delicious with old style taste. It was good experience for my first try and they still have 10% off in opening and tea cost per person is waived. As still in grand opening, the environment is still needed for improvement, many blue boxes and obstructs are not organizing for the restaurant, abit messy inside the room which is for the side of congee/noodle house, not open yet. Neptune is usually established two different restaurants in one location - one for dim sum/dinner and another for congee/noodle house, they shared same kitchen. Will go again
We were here for dinner to celebrate some August birthdays. The service was great - people were helpful, attentive, and friendly. The disappointment, however, was the food. It was quite average for a Chinese banquet-style restaurant and, as with everywhere else these days, expensive.
We really enjoyed our meal and the service here! Very specicious and clean restaurant. We are craving duck so we decided to go to Neptune & ordered duck two ways; for the first dish, the whole duck was sliced at the table so we could put that into the crêpe and spring onion/hoisin sauce. The second duck dish was diced and fried with other vegetables to place into lettuce wraps. Both were super delicious. We also ordered fish and vegetables with rice. Would definitely return to try the other dishes
Had dim sum here. Really good. With Grand Palace shutdown, this place is the best place for dim sum in Coquitlam and Poco to date. For best dim sum in Vancouver I still recommend going to Richmond. I haven’t checked out the main dishes yet but I will come back to try them at a later date. The food is not over salty. The chicken feet is the best in Coquitlam and Poco. The reason for a four star is because of the service. The service let’s this place down. I hope management will look at this and take note. If you get your service right I’m sure your rating will go up.
