Mr D's Shish Kabobs

This small mom & pop place has been here for many years. They do have limited hours, but so worth the stop. The food is so good. Homemade cut fries not frozen.Take out or stay. Like I said, small, maybe 5 or 6 tables. BRING CASH!

Mr D's is simply AMAZING for lack of better word. Every bite was hot, well-seasoned, fresh, and made with soul! It's clear that the owners pour their hearts into each & every meal, and they are so kind! Everyone who comes in knows them by name & they run like a well oiled machine! This place here. No matter how many years it's been since I've gone. Whenever I come back it's always the same high quality of food. That I could eat without getting sick. Worth the money that's not even unreasonable. Everything just beautiful here. Especially the family that runs this place. Doing what they love making amazing food. And reasonable prices. Great place to check out if you want something quiet, hidden away from everybody else that not too many people probably know about :- However they really should :- especially if they don't want to waste their money when it comes to getting an Italian beef :- There's nothing worse than spending all that money on one. And it just taste horrible. Here no matter when you go, it's always going to be amazing! Never failed me in all the years I've been coming here. Amazing place! Amazing people! Great people working at MR D’s, really nice and the steak sandwich is amazing. It’s 10.75 with tax and fries and it is was a full meal even for a big guy like me. Cheese, grilled onions, Mayo and fresh tomatoes is the way to go for sure.

The stars of the show here are the steak sandwich and the fries. Incredible char flavor on the steak. Most people get their steak sandwiches with the grilled onions but I am not an onion guy. The hot dog was also pretty darn tasty. Both the flavor of the dog and fries makes this better than Gene and Jude's in River Grove Yeah, I said it. Mr. D's is a Montclare institution for a reason.

You cant go wrong with the steak sandwich. I really enjoy the Italian Beef as well. They dont "dip" it enough for me but its flavorful & the bread is nice & soft so I dont mind the "dry" bread. If you're a fry person like me you want to add an order of fries. They dont give enough with the sandwiches.

This is the kind of place any neighborhood should have. Their menu is small but it's all good. The husband and wife duo who've been working/running this place are a treasure. Both are very kind, hospitable, generous people I've ever met. My son and I visited Mr. D's for the very first time. Saw Mr. D's being featured on Chicago's Best YouTube back when Ted Brunson was hosting. We went there for the Steak sandwich All sandwiches come with fries. It's so good my son ordered another! We dined in and witnessed the number of people who'd stop by and order/pickup their food. The place is small but the two can accommodate the orders that come in w/o any problems. We loved our food were freshly cooked and they're generous with the freshly cooked fries. Drink RC Cola with your sandwiches. It'll bring you back to the times when things are simple. My son and I drove 30+ miles to Mr. D's, one way. We'll certainly do it again and again. We love this place!

Great charbroiled eats. Kabob sandwich is simple and delicious. Fresh cut fries are perfect. Friendly family with a bare basic setup- charbroiler, deep fryer, and small prep station. Just a block away from The Brickyard. The quality blows away any of the fastfood joints nearby. Small and inexpensive menu.

I like this spot, and it definitely has one of the best sandwiches I could find here in the area. The place is just a simple and small place, but it is true that you should not judge the book by its cover, because no matter how it looks, I was really surprised at how good their sandwiches are. My friend recommended this place, and it was my first time visiting it. I am a fan of steak sandwiches, and that is exactly what I ordered. The customer service is great. It is quick, and the people inside are very nice and friendly. Also, they do not have many options on their menu. The steak sandwich is fresh and hot, and it is also huge. Overall, it has great flavor. The bread tastes fresh, and it has a nice texture as well as the steak. I just cannot explain how good it is, but it is so good that I will consider it one of my favorite spots for food in this area. The steak sandwich is also reasonable, and it comes with well-seasoned fries, but it was a bit soggy for me.
