Motel Au Fleuve D'Argent

Unexpected for a motel, very clean and updated. Parking is free and easy right in front of your room ground level. The walls are thin so you can expect to hear your neighbors but we didn’t have any issues with sleep. They have a huge lawn where your pup can roam around while you view the St-Lawrence River. Our room had a nice spacious balcony with a table and two chairs. The reception woman was super friendly ! They offer muffin and in-room coffee pods which is better than nothing, I appreciated it. Pet fee is $15/night which is reasonable. ***my partner is over 6ft and kept knocking his head on the chandelier, beware ***

Great and helpful people at the front desk. Super easy check in and check out, they even called to ask when I was arriving to make arrangements if I were to arrive after the desk closes. The smallest rooms are in their own little hut with a bathroom, microwave and fridge. No AC but a crack in the window did the job. It was so pleasant it's sad we were only there 1 night. You can't beat this place for price and quality!!

Great experience and value in the Pet friendly cabin/cottages! Accommodated late check-in, 2 separate rooms with fabulous A/C and shared living space and bathroom. Perfect midway stop for travelling between Ontario and Nova Scotia. Awesome mini park to walk dogs.

We have stayed here on a few occasions as a rest point when travelling back-and-forth to the Maritimes from Ontario. The rooms are quaint and clean with a beautiful property at the back to stroll in and watch the sunset. Normally, our experience is excellent.nnSadly, our most recent experience was problematic. Though we had booked online well in advance - as we normally do- and were called while we were en route to confirm that we would arrive before 8 PM. which we did confirm. We received a call, quite literally as we were driving into town at 6:35pm and we’re told that the cabin we had booked was double booked, and there was quite literally no place for us.nnAgain, we had already been driving for the entire day at this point. At the height of tourist season … finding a room elsewhere at quite literally the last minute…this was more than just disconcerting…nnDisappointment doesn’t begin to express our feelings as we had to continued down the highway to seek shelter for the night. Thankfully we are neither an elderly couple, nor are we travelling with small children. Could you imagine being on the halfway point of a 1500km journey with no place to rest?nnNevertheless 400 km down the highway we found a place to stay.nnWe waited for some time to pass and stop fuming about this experience before we wrote our review.nnOnly a verbal apology, and of course, not having our credit card charged because we didn’t actually have an opportunity to stay was offered as recompense. That was it. I’m not sure what I expected…but more than “oops, sorry….dommage”.nnDommage indeed.nnMy advice would be for you to double - triple or quadruple check that you have a booking and they have not double booked it in error, leaving you stranded. Or perhaps find another place to stay altogether if you don’t want to take the risk.nnWhether we bother with this place in the future remains to be seen. Which is sad, because we’ve had such great experiences there.

We have stayed at this wonderful, quiet, pet friendly motel on the river twice on our travels back and forth from Ontario to Nova Scotia. If you are making the trip from the Toronto area with one overnight stop, it's a great midway point!nCustomer service is excellent - both times booking on the phone and when we checked in, we dealt with the same extremely pleasant bilingual young man sorry I don't know his name.nWe stayed in the main motel section both times but they also have lovely cabins that line each side of the motel, all with balconies facing the river.nOur room both times was clean, VERY spacious and the beds very comfortable. Each motel room has a private balcony with sliding glass door overlooking the spacious beautifully landscaped grounds and the river.nWe will definitely stay here again! I would recommend reserving in advance as it seems to be a popular spot.nP.S. - Both times we stayed here we ordered Pizza online from Pizza Salvatore. It is delicious and arrives piping hot and very quickly! Highly recommend!
