For over 25 years, Monster Gym has been leading the fitness industry in Quebec. NOW, WE ARE DOMINATING IT. With our recent move into the 70,000 SQ² Fitness City complex, we are here to service all of your fitness goals. Start off that fat burning mission on one of our high-end cutting edge cardio machines. Follow up with our state of the art resistance training equipment to help build muscle or tone up and then go for a jog on our sky-high walking/running track. How about winding down with a few laps in our secluded spa-like pool and finish off in our steaming hot Jacuzzi. In one hour, you have just melted fat, toned up your muscles and now feel completely rejuvenated. Avec notre récent déménagement dans le 70 000 pied² complexe de Fitness City, nous sommes ici pour servir l'ensemble de vos objectifs physique. Commencez votre mission de mise en forme sur l'un de nos machines haut de gamme de cardio. Suivez avec nos machines de musculation d’entraînement fonctionnel à la fine pointe de la technologie pour aider à construire ou de tonifier vos muscles et ensuite aller faire une course sur notre piste de course haut de ciel. Que diriez-vous de se détendre avec quelques tours dans notre piscine de style spa et finir dans notre jacuzzi chaud. Might seem fine at first but when you start actually attending you’ll quickly realize that the locker rooms are not up kept, machines don’t get maintained, memberships are extremely limited at any decent prices and over all the place does not smell even decent no matter the time. This place has lost what it once had. Save your money.
I had a really awful experience with this gym, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who values customer service or fairness.nnFirst of all, the front desk treatment is extremely inconsistent. While there are about three staff members who were genuinely kind and respectful I wish I caught their names, the rest were rude and unhelpful—especially the guy who works at night and another one in the afternoon. They made me feel like I was being a burden just for asking basic questions.nnWhat frustrated me most was the payment system. They don’t offer monthly payments like most gyms. Instead, they force you to pay everything upfront, which feels like a way to trap people. If they offered monthly plans, I’m sure many wouldn’t continue because the service doesn’t match the high fees.nnAnd if your credit card fails—even once—they won’t let you in. No flexibility, no understanding, no customer care. You’re just left waiting while they act like it’s not their problem.nnHonestly, it’s a money-first, people-last kind of place. Don’t be fooled by the name or the hype.
I’ve been a member at Monster Gym for over a year now, and I feel compelled to share my honest experience in hopes that it leads to some much-needed improvements.nnThe cleanliness of the facility is shockingly poor—especially in the locker rooms. The smell is unbearable, and honestly, it feels unhealthy to even breathe in there. For a gym that charges such high membership fees, it’s completely unacceptable to maintain such unsanitary conditions.nnOn top of that, the equipment is outdated and clearly hasn’t been upgraded in years. When you’re paying a premium price every month, you expect a premium standard—not old machines and dirty facilities.nnI’m sure a big reason many people stay at Monster is because of the vibes. It has that “hardcore” feel and is known for attracting a lot of high-level athletes and influencers. But let’s be real—beyond the hype, the gym falls short when it comes to basic standards like hygiene and functioning equipment. It’s time to invest in the essentials and not just the reputation.nnI truly hope the management takes these concerns seriously and begins prioritizing hygiene, air quality, and equipment upgrades. Members deserve better, especially when they’re paying top dollar.
I don't even know where to start, honestly. I was a member for nearly 6 years before finally choosing to leave Monster Gym. It is unbearably sad, embarrassing, and shocking just how much the gym has downgraded.nnThe only thing keeping me was the price. Yes, for those who are reading and paying that ridiculous—what is it again? Like $50.00-plus a month?—I was paying about $25.00 for being a long-term member. Eventually, this gym just got worse and worse to the point where even the $25.00 wasn't worth it anymore, considering every goddamn machine breaks every second of every day.nnWhen was the last time all the cables were functioning at once? When was the last time they even cleaned the gym?nnI used to be so excited to walk through that door—until this last year or two, when the gym got infested with plastic women and ego-driven idiots who would wrestle shirtless behind the mirrors where the green tarp is. Yes, that actually happened, and not just once.nnAll in all, this gym has completely downgraded, and it's ridiculous to see. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has felt this way.nnI think this all began when Monster Gym got rid of the female-only section. Don’t think we forgot that whoever runs the Instagram for Monster Gym was deleting comments from people who disagreed with that decision. How pathetic.nnIf you're sitting around wondering if they'll ever fix anything: they won’t.nIf you're considering switching gyms: please, save your money and go to literally any other gym in the West Island.
