Monga Fried Chicken
"Taiwanese style Fried Chicken is one of the most renowned street snacks of Taiwan. Monga Fried Chicken embedded the spirit of Monga into the traditional street snack and revolutionized this favourable snack of all times. Fresh chicken fillets are marinated with honey, dipped in batter instead of dry flours, and fried to perfection so that every bite of Monga Fried Chicken is thick, juicy and tender at the same time."

I was quite satisfied when I visited this restaurant for the first time and had to go back for my Friday take out. It's definitely a must visit dine-in or takeout if you love fried chicken. I didn't know much about It's food history and I was told that they're a Taiwanese based fried chicken. They use fresh chicken fillets marinated with honey, dipped in batter instead of dry flours, and fried to perfection so that every bite of Monga Fried Chicken is thick, juicy and tender at the same time. I tried their original chickens and spicy chicken with sweet potato balls, sweet potato and regular fries, and shrimp bao. Every bite was delicious! They usually have one cashier and one cook but pretty fast. Costumer service is very welcoming and friendly. They will explain every details on their menus if you're unsure what to order. Also, I suggest you download their app, Monga Fried Chicken so you can redeem one free dish. It's so worth it.
Portion is huge and reasonable priced. We came at almost closing time they still made to order. Signature chicken is good we got the seaweed flavor my friend got the original. Very crisp very crunchy and juicy. Can feel the chicken they use is well selected. Recommend their other snacks too. Would like to try more next time!! Difficult to find parking nearby tho.
Ordered their hot chick fried chicken with Anaheim pepper and I loved it. There's this amazing blend of sweet and savory taste probably a result of their honey marination and hot spice. Flattened chicken is always tasty and I liked that there weren't parts that were just plain meat but there was skin with flavor that was even. Looking forward to trying out their other fried chicken variants with plum pickle salt, Okinawa seaweed, and mozzarella cheese. They're $14 so not the cheapest but definitely worth the taste. UPDATE: Also tried the Plum and Okinawa seaweed flavors. They're both really interesting especially the batter used in the Okinawa seed that gives it a nice crunch. The plum flavor has hints of sweet and sour which is nice. If only they increased the seasoning on the chicken I will be adding a note to my order asking for that the next time. Once you're done with the skin, there's still a bit of meat inside which would have been nicer if it wasn't as dry so you might want to order a sauce or two to go with it. Finally, the bao burger is also really good over here ask for extra radish seasoning!
Same quality as the ones I had back in Taiwan! Monga is my favorite fried chicken fillet at all time…. It’s a shame not so much ppl know about it. To be honest it’s way better than “The Fry” Korean fried chicken near by—Monga is more crunchy, less flour, less artificial flavor, more meat. You cannot believe for a such thickness it still can be this juicy! And even better: Boneless. 5/5!
They never fail to disappoint, pathetic service. Only the chicken here deserves the stars, the cashier and the attendee don't. 1 They say 20mins, but always take over 30mins. 2 One visit, they gave me burnt fried chicken. 3 Another visit, they gave me the wrong flavor of chicken. 4 Another visit, missed to give me the drink and gave only 2 fries, 2 FRIES! 5 They seal the packet with staplers; for us to avoid checking what they gave wrong? 6 another visit, I asked them and checked for tissues. She cashier said she forgot, and realized she had also given me the wrong order and said sorry hadn't discovered that until I opened the stapled package, took 15min more. 7 They prioritize skip the dishes/ delivery orders before dine-in/ takeout customers. Fire your incompetent workers. I love your fried chicken but one only has so much patience.
One of, if not THE best fried chicken place in all of Toronto! Watch your food being made right in front of you! Definitely a small business worth supporting!
Very tasty, crisply Taiwanese style fried chicken. Place is clean. It's cook to order rather than pre-fried. Chicken is locally sourced. Give the seaweed fried chicken a try. It's goes great with the Thai chili sauce!
The chicken is good, but they need to advertise that the rice that comes in the bento box are "Hainanese Chicken Rice". The rice taste very good, one of the best I've had in GTA Sorry the pic was taken half way through the meal.
My go-to spot for Taiwanese Fried Chicken. Hands down so much more flavourful and love the fact that they fry the chicken to order. So expect some wait time while you're there. It's not fast food. Would recommend the Bento Box with chicken rice if you're really hungry. The New Orlean Wings, Pork Belly Baoger, and the Chee-Z.
Great fried chicken place. Portion is humongous for the price. I tried the salt and pepper chicken and a fried chicken bao. Salt and pepper chicken tasted amazing. Chicken was tender with just enough seasoning. Go great with a drink or pop. The bao was a bit weird as the chicken isn't flat inside it but rather irregular shaped. Think a drumstick inside the bao. It tasted ok. Not as good as banh mi boys I would say. Overall great food at great prices. Would recommend.
