Friendly staff, nice environment for eating, cool and unique decor, awesome selection of ingredients, vibrant eatery. This place is a nice escape from the usual ramen places in Toronto. You can choose a preselected combo or create your own luwei. It includes selection of spice level and what kind of broth you choose. Overall, a nice place to dine and go.
Tried this for the first time and it was delicious! You have a selection of options to choose from and the meal was prepared quickly. Staff is kind and will explain things that you don’t know. Only negatives I might say is the amount of meat per dish and maybe the overall size. Also note there is no vegetarian option as the broths they use are chicken and pork and the honey chilli sauce was quite spicy at medium. However, as the menu shows, you can adjust spice levels.
This is my first time trying Taiwanese street food, and I Felt in love with it!! My friend and I went there and we had no ideas what to order. The manager at the restaurant was really nice and he went over everything with us and recommend us the most popular items.
It's my second time trying this place first time was pre-opening and it's amazing! The food are very tasty and authentic, make me miss Taiwan. I like how they display the food so you know what you're ordering. The portion is great too, we spent around $10 per person and got a huge bowl of food!! Don't forget to try the secret menu. The minced pork rice is very special and yummy. Too bad the wheel cake is not serving after 10 or it'll be great late night snack.
WHAT TO TRY?!? Their noodle experience. The Taiwanese experience. You get to choose different types of noodle and then your own ingredients. You then pick a soup base and spicy level. We picked the thin and thick noodle as the noodle type. In terms of soup base we picked the hoja sauce that they’re known for. In terms of ingredients we decided not to pick our own ingredients rather than have their fixed choices. This way, we can choose more meat and seafood to try! I thought the hoja sauce is good for marinating meats and tofu but it’s too salty for noodle soup base because it’s soy sauce based. The ingredients were alright, nothing I can’t buy at the supermarket and make it myself. I thought the noodle experience in general was alright because there wasn’t much effort needed to make the noodle bowl. You literally put the ingredients and noodle you request in the boiling soup. If there’s anything that’s special it’s their soup bases. It’s really hot inside though. It’s a very small restaurant and the kitchen is an open concept so more often than not, you will feel the heat from the stoves. The menu looked confusing on the walls at first, but the form that the servers give you will make it easier to understand. LAST TIP?! I wouldn’t go for the hoja sauce if you don’t want it too salty. The other soup bases are not as salty and can complement the noodle as a soup base better. If you don’t want veggies, I suggest you DIY style.
Omg! so good! Everything is so fresh and clean here. I love the sesame sauce and special thin noodles they imported from Taiwan. This is my new go-to spot. Their secret menu “taiwanese minced pork on rice” is legit! I don’t have to go back to visit Taiwan anymore. Thank you for opening in Downtown Toronto!!!
Food: It was pretty filling. A decent combo is about 12 dollars, but I think it's better if you make your own bowl for the sake of having your favourite vegetables and sides into it. If you are not familiar with the ingredients, then it's best to choose the combos. Otherwise, it was really good! The rice given was smaller than expected but it was surely enough to make you full. The popcorn chicken was great as well, not too greasy and enough seasoning. No complaint for the food! Decor: The decor was small and minimal. Nothing too flashy. It was cool enough for the hot weather, but I would have hoped they could have fixed some of the chairs because it was a bit unbalanced. Hygiene: The only thing that I had to note was the amount of cleanness the restaurant has. There were pieces of hair on the tables, and some of the utensils provided weren't sanitized well. But whatever.. Service: The waitress made sure that my glass of water was not empty, and I really appreciate that! 5/5 on the service!
The overall experiencing was a positive one. Lots of options from either pre-made combos that you can add to, or complete from scratch bowl you put together from your choices. I had the spicy fish combo bowl with thin noodles and hoja broth. It was spicy as advertised and pretty delicious. The broth was slightly on the sweet side but not in a bad way. Good service and good food. Will recommend to others.
Love this place! This place serves authentic Taiwanese LUWEI and the whole setting of the restaurant also makes you feel like you're in Taiwan! The food is good, staffs are friendly too! Will definitely come back for sure! HOJA!
A new taiwanese place that has a lot of good traditional food. This place is a little bit out of the way for me, but it was a quaint place to visit. The seating is very limited. It was very cozy, but very very small. If you are expecting privacy, you won't get it here. The food was pretty good. You get to choose what you want in your dish as well as the different noodles available. The selection is fantastic, but the prices not so much. My own noodle cost $18. Didn't realize how much it was until after the selection. i just kept on loading it with everything. The real down side to this place is the bugs. We had a lot of fruit flies everywhere. After a while, I just couldn't eat because i thought some of the flies got in my soup. If you put down your chopsticks, they just start landing on it to eat. Not the cleanest place...... Overall, I would give it an average. Usually, i would give this place a 1 star because i hate bugs, but the food made up for it a little.
