Mike's Place

A lot of people love this place and to each their own. We had Brooke as our waitress recently and she was just AWFUL. It was all you can eat fish night which is obviously busy. We understood and were patient for the most part. We began to get frustrated as the other guests in our section were getting great service from their waitresses. We waited for a long time for refills and fish but when Brooke finally came back to our table she just took our plates and assumed we were done. I had to specifically ask her for more fish and a refill. Trying to get service with her was nearly impossible. All the other waitresses were doing a great job and I think our night would have been better enjoyed with anyone other than Brooke.

This place is insane! Do yourself a favor and come an extra half hour early to read the menu. You won’t be able to check it all out but you will be entertained and you can see a small portion of it. Eat in a boat, a bus, see the x wing fighter out front. The menu is huge! And it is all great! Little and big kids alike you will have a blast. Mike the owner, and the rest of the staff is super nice too! Ordered online via the app and it was ready by the time I got there. Had the Corned Beef’s Chaos Mash lotta cheese sauce on top was not expected but welcome.

I lived the first 10 years of my life in Kent. All throughout my childhood, I would gaze in wonder whenever we would drive by- at the X-wing parked out front, the patchwork of additions to the building (to which have been added a castle and a bus over the years) and at the old-fashioned, house-shaped red sign with yellow script lettering reading "Mike's place" on the tall sign post that stands in almost comical contrast to the the quirky, eclectic restaurant below. I never got to eat here when I was a resident, because we were so poor that Taco Bell was one of the only viable dining out options for us. Finally after high school, and an improvement in economic standing, I came with a group of friends. We sat in the bus and ordered monster sandwiches. It. Was. Magical. The walls are covered in decades of collected kitsch, and the menu is sassy and cock-sure, with good reason. Everything I've ever tried here has been delicious. By the way, that first visit was over 15 years ago. I just went back for lunch with a friend last week, and it hasn't changed a bit. Mike's place is a Kent institution, and I hope it lives on for many more decades!!

Huge menu to choose from. "My Precious Daughter " love this place. Nice place to bring your children and friends. The prices are reasonable. The food is delicious. The portions are great, you never leave the place hungry. Fast service!

My husband and I are from Cincinnati and were visiting the Kent area. We went to Mike’s Place for supper on a Monday. We ordered the pizza special. We LOVED the pizza and salads. We enjoyed our food so much that we went back the following day for lunch. Excellent food and great value. I wish Cincinnati was closer so we could go to Mike’s Place regularly!
