Midas

First of all I just want to say Jason is a really good guy and super honest. However, his coworkers in the shop don't seem to care what they're doing as my experiences describe below. I have been taking my Midas to this shop for the better part of 2 years. Unfortunately, I have had extremely poor experiences with the quality of workmanship and the lack of diagnosis to problems. I am not a mechanic but I try to do my own research before bringing my truck in for a repair just to give the mechanic that I'm paying an idea of what to expect and what might be wrong. I have had a number of services and repairs done here that have gone terribly wrong and some issues with my vehicle cropped up because of the poor workmanship. 1. I serviced my vehicle for tire rotation and oil change. I said there was a slow leak in one of the tires. They said they couldn't find it but attempted a repair by replacing the valve. When I received the truck back I noticed they repaired the wrong tire. I thought maybe this was my fault and I had given them the wrong information so I let it slide, bought a portable air compressor and filled my tire once a week to the correct psi for the next year. 2. I had some fluid changes. Power steering fluid, transmission fluid, and coolant. Everything when swimmingly and they even replaced the cap that was rusting out on the back of the differential. I brought the truck home and noticed that the coolant was extremely low even when hot. So I took it back a couple days later and asked them to add some more. They said no problem and then filled it up right in the parking lot. However, the guy who filled it up not only substantially overfilled it (which could cause issues when it expands after being hot) but he also put a different coolant in it. 3. Took my truck in for a regular service oil change tire rotation (actually got the leaking tire repaired) with a coupon I received. Did not take long and everything seemed to go well. I drove my truck out of the lot heading south on the 404 when I noticed my hood was rattling up and down. Turns out they did not properly close my hood. I had to immediately pull off of the highway and close it. 4. I took my truck in to replace the front brakes. Everything seemed to go well and I was on my way. A couple months later I notice some knocking noise coming from the bottom of the truck. I was thinking it might have something to do with the driveshaft. I decided to take it in and have them look to see what the issue was. I also needed to get a seal replaced because of a small leak so I thought I could hit 2 birds with one stone. They couldn't diagnose the problem so they told me to take it to another shop that specializes with transmission work. A few weeks later I take it into the shop that they recommended and within 1 hour I get a call from the mechanic there that the issue was the front brakes were not installed correctly by Midas and causing a lot of play creating the knocking noise. So you can see my experience with Midas' workmanship has been pretty poor. I will not be taking it back here.

Jiffy lube is great. Midas mechanics is HORRIBLE! The mechanics and receptionists can't communicate with each other effectively, lie to their customers about the services preformed. Went for an oil change: they put the wrong oil in, then didn't clean the filter of the wrong oil, when told they didn't top up the oil and they refused to put more in when asked, then they didn't even add washer fluid at all. This took an hour and a half of my time. What a waste!! Never go here. Zero stars!!
