First time coming to this Ramen spot, tried the Special they had for the Easter which was called the Spicy Chicken Paitan and got the Okonomiyaki. Food was good and the Ramen was very tasty. Service provided by Ellen was amazing and top notch. Special shout out to her for helping us and answering all our questions!
Okonamakayi: Hot and crunchy, the cabbage was tender and the sauce was good as it was not too saucy or overpowering. It could've used a bit more sauce Miso butter/pork belly: The noodles were good with a clean broth. The noodles were cooked really well as it was bouncy and the mixture of the butter adds to the flavor of the soup. Black garlic pork shoulder: The noodles are also really good, the broth was not as creamy and lighter than other black garlic broths. There wasn't much garlic but the grilled pork shoulder was good.
First time going. The restaurant is clean and easy to navigate. The server sat us promptly. Menu is via qr code. We had age tofu and vegetable tempura. The tofu was a little undercooked. The tofu felt firm rather then crunchy. Seasoning was ok. The tempura was also under cooked. The veggies were too firm. Batter was also really light and fell off a little too easily. The mazeman ramen was pretty good. This one has no soup. It was seasoned well and the noodles were firm. Meat was delicious too. A friend had the spicy miso ramen. The miso flavour is not very noticeable. And the spice is more just from the chili inside. It wasn't really super spicy. But it was light and airy. This one was vegetable based.. But they do add meat to the top of the bowl, so not quite vegetarian. Server did check on us 5 mins into eating, which was a plus. Bathrooms were pretty clean too. Would return, but wouldn't go out of my way to eat here unfortunately.
Came for the ramen and was not disappointed. House made noodles that are perfectly al dente with a bit of wavy texture. The broth for both the spicy dragon and original shoyu were flavourful and unique. The spicy was a good amount of spicy to flavour, and the shoyu was light yet held an interesting oniony depth I haven't had before. The meat was perfectly tender, and the ground pork on the shoyu had a really delicious flavour that I can't place, but cut through the saltiness of the rest of the dish in a wonderful way. The takoyaki was well done, pretty much just a really good version of the classic flavour. The tempura was so good! I don't know if it's because I haven't had it in awhile but the veggies were a smooth texture that complimented the crunchy tempura really well. Also there was a red pepper one??? And it was so good??? I think they might have roasted it before they battered it.
Decided to pop in and try this place. Turns out it's a lovely ramen shop! They specialize in tonkotsu ramen, and for what is my favourite type of ramen, I was not disappointed! The broth is rich and creamy, the charsiu was quite honestly amazing, and loved how perfect the noodles were. The staff were very attentive and really helpful during the ordering process. Thank you!
We were not too impressed right off the bat with how we were greeting and shown to our table. The hostess was quite unfriendly not only to us but to everyone else that came through the door. On the positive side, our waitress was wonderful. The food came out quick and hot. Although it's not the best ramen I've had in the province, it was quite good. The broth had nice flavor but could use some added depth. The meats were tender and flavorful. They did forget my girlfriends egg in her bowl which was disappointing. Overall, I would recommend this place if you are looking for a good bowl of ramen.
Been meaning to come to Menjiro for some time! First of all, I ordered the Black Garlic Tonkatsu! It was delicious, the broth was flavourful and had a great balance of umami flavours. The pork shoulder that came with the soup was madd to perfection and having it charred, elevated the dish. Additionally I also had the chicken karaage, which was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Overall, great food! Shout out to Elly for being an attentive server!
I got the tonkotsu tomato with pork shoulder and the chicken karaage with yuzu ginger sauce to share. A good experience altogether. The chicken karaage was well fried with a nice crunchy exterior and tender juicy inside. I wasn't really able to taste much yuzu or ginger in the accompanying sauce. For the ramen: the noodles have a good structure/stiffness and were not too soft. The pork shoulder is lightly grilled and has a good meat flavor with some smokiness to it whether you choose this one or the pork belly, neither are too fatty. There wasn't much bean sprouts or cabbage that came with it and were overcooked. The broth itself was well flavored but the tomato component was very subtle and could be more concentrated it was salty enough. Overall, not bad but could be more refined.
Fantastic Ramen, the noodles are fresh and delicious. We also enjoyed the tempura vegetables which included a nice variety. Service was very good and we look forward to returning.
Ramen was alright. Noddles were not chewy enough for my liking, Chashu could also be more chewy. Decent pricing and portions. Atmosphere was good. If need to have some quick ramen in a pinch on south end of town this is not a bad choice.Food: 4/5
