MEC Saint-Denis

This is a Mountain Equipment Co-op. It is a fantastic place for winter clothes and warm underwear. It is also great for winter equipment although this particular location is mainly clothing not choose not equipment not bikes. And the staff was very helpful the dressing rooms they're comfortable and the place in general a pleasant experience. I would have to recommend this to anyone. In particular if you're visiting from out of town and you're fighting Montreal are they called this is where you want to go to armor yourself up against the weather.

Quiet store, friendly staff, good selection of outdoor products for urban needs. You can purchase the Coop card at $5 if I remember correctly. If you need outdoor stuff for the proper outdoors, it's a better bet to go to the marché central location, where you can also rent equipment if you need to. But yeah, just for bike lights, water bottles, clothes and that kind of stuff - the store is minutes away from the metro and at a super convenient location!

Clothing only -- this seems like an urban outpost of MEC - clothes and small goods only. I went here on an arctic day and bought snow pants. Good service. Their house-brand clothing are reasonably priced and good quality. Staff are attentive but relaxed.

Great place. Just if they offer to order something from another store, don't do it, just order online. Super weird experience. I went in 3 weeks ago, and found great thermal underwear a size too big for me. They offered to order the right size from Longeuil or Marche Centrale, as well as some gloves I wanted that weren't in-store. The shop manager helped me pick them out from the MEC online catalogue, to ensure she knew exactly what I wanted. Then she walked over to *her* computer, and spent 20 minutes (no exaggeration) on the phone with the other store, mostly on hold, trying to figure out how to get my items. I couldn't leave without paying, I couldn't pay because they didn't know if they had the items, and apparently the only way to know was through phoning the warehouse manager? Finally she told me she could get the thermal underwear but not the gloves. I said fine, paid, she said they'd notify me when the thermals arrived. I went home, and in 5 minutes using the same MEC online catalogue I'd just used, ordered the gloves. A week later I got an email saying they'd arrived. I went in and picked them up. Still no email about the thermals. Finally I went in tonight and asked about my thermal underwear. They've been there for a while. Although I had updated my MEC account phone number the same day I placed the order, they had written it on the order sheet as 514 instead of 438, phoned it and marked "phone out of service" on the order sheet. I asked if they couldn't have just emailed me instead, and they simply said no. I am thoroughly boggled. Why is it that a customer can log on, see available inventory and place an order, and a manager has to spend 20 minutes on the phone to only end up doing half the order? Why can I not just get an email? Why can they not just look at my MEC account for my real phone number? It's a nice looking store, friendly staff, but don't let them order anything for you.
