What a great place for breakfast! This place opens at 7am which is perfect if you want to get yourself fuelled up before hitting the slopes at nearby Mount Bachelor. We ordered a strawberry crepes and all American breakfast. My wife loved her crepes coming from a French person says a lot about the crepe. Suggest to have whipped cream on the side. The coffee came with an additional pot which is lovely so you don’t have to ask for refill. The decor was also very cozy with fireplace and shelves with old books. Recommend to come early. We came at 7am and the place gets filled up quite quickly.
Had a nice breakfast here during the January 2022 new year blizzard. Arrived at 9:30 and the three of us were seated immediately. If we could have, we would have eaten all of our breakfasts, they were so delicious, but the portions are huge and we gorged ourselves with delicious scones to start! service was friendly, timely and accurate and by the time we left there was a line out the door waiting to be seated. 9:30 seemed to be the sweet spot for immediate seating. This is a great place to take your family out for a delicious breakfast, brunch or lunch.
There is a fairly long waiting list during weekends, we waited for 1.5 hours for the brunch on a long weekend holiday. But the food is quite impressive. We had the signature eggs Benedict and mckay burger, both are very delicious. The French toast is also very amazing, with cream stuffing. Parking: The parking lot is usually quite full, but there is the nearby parking lot for park access, and there is a trail leading right to the road side opposite of mckay.
This beautiful...experience was a once in a lifetime find on the road. Words will not do it justice. The staff love working there. You can feel it in the unique structures and taste it in the unusual and delicious food. Everyone is happy to be there..even as they wait for their tables. Know it got very busy as we narrowly sqeezed in easily between breakfast and the lunch rush. Do not miss...yet go early...and enjoy.
There is a good reason this place is always busy: the food is delicious! I arrived on a Friday morning and it was busy, and they were able to seat me quickly. The servers offered helpful suggestions. I enjoyed the hash with homemade hot sauce on the side. The house jam was so good I bought a whole jar. The historic architecture adds another level of interest. So good!
Service was top-notch despite how busy they were. Coffee and breakfast were delicious! Our server was super sweet and so friendly. She gave us great recommendations on drinks and food and they definitely did not disappoint. The Marionberry Margarita was probably one of the best drinks I’ve ever tasted!! We waited about 40 minutes for a table but it was absolutely worth it.
Outstanding food and service. Wait was longer, but bar and coffee service in waiting area, part of experience... bloody Mary w peppers vodka was incredible for brunch. We got lemon ricotta pancakes, amazing, and a lava omelette with chorizo and veggies. Lovely vacation stop.
What a great place to have breakfast! The service staff is VERY friendly and welcoming. The coffee is delicious! The food... OMG, it's delicious, fresh and portioned for people who are hungry. We were seated in the back are, I call it the Library.
Amazing. Incredible. Outstanding. I would call this “hospitality” instead of service because the staff is so welcoming and sincere. There is almost always a wait especially in the weekend so get there early if possible. If not, enjoy the coffee and cocktail bars while you wait. Oh, and the food is top notch…both in variety and flavor. Highly recommend.
Wow! What an experience. Typically when a restaurant offers a large menu it can be a red flag with few items tasting well. McKay cottage restaurant is an exception to that rule of thumb. They have a large menu and every item tastes AMAZING. I have yet to have a mediocre plate. Awesome variety of brunch drinks / cocktail / coffee cocktails etc. They serve coffee from Thump as well :
