Makes a good first impression, but the food disappoints. And be aware that only cash is accepted; no cards.
We appreciated the complimentary coffee while waiting to be seated in a nice sunny room. We also enjoyed the friendly service.
But sadly, our food was mediocre (tasteless omelettes, butter-soaked toast, and a fruit salad with crunchy unripe melon). My first order was incorrect and had to be redone (which was done quickly, with an apology).
McCarthy's seems quite popular -- jammed on weekends -- but leaves
the impression of a once-great place that's now coasting.
There are better choices on nearby Main St.

Didn't eat. Had to give 4 stars anyway because of the friendly staff. Coffee is decent. Can't wait to eat there.
Edit: Came back for breakfast. Corned beef and hash was outstanding. our server was quiet. She wasn't rude. Just not overly friendly. I would definitely eat there again.

Good brunch place. Home fries was really good. And the vermont maple syrup on my pancakes are the best. Will be back for sure.

My husband just brought my two sons here after a lacrosse tournament weekend.
The waitress brought my sons the lemonades they ordered.
Apparently there aren't burgers or fried food available on Sundays. When my husband realized this, he was offered breakfast food (which was the only thing available that they'd been eating at the hotel all weekend) or cold sandwiches.
Cold sandwiches would be great at a deli, but not when you're sitting down at paying for a tip.
The waitress took my sons' drinks away and then they left.
Note: my husband is one of the nicest, most polite people. He works hard and also used to work in hospitality for many years.
I understand it can be frustrating and unrewarding to work in a tourist destination, I get it.
This was just a very sad experience.

The coffee is great, tastes like they have an old Bunn machine. Food is slightly overpriced for what you're ordering, but the real kicker is when it comes time to pay the bill; have cash or pay the ATM fee. They don't post it anywhere, so it's a bit deceitful.
