Matchstick Coffee Roasters

Great coffee, exactly what you’d expect from a hipster coffee joint EXCEPT, they have a top notch bakery in the cafe making one of the best Double baked almond croissants in town. They make all their baked goods in house which is impressive as their baked goods are a a few levels above what you get at most cafes not to mention bakeries. The selection of sweet and savory treats to go with your coffee varroa from earl grey muffins to quiches and other gorgeous little things. They also make fresh artisan breads and i think I saw a baguette there once! I know I haven’t talked much about the coffee but I did say it was what you would expect at a great urban coffee joint. You won’t regret the visit.

Very nice and cozy place. Breakfasts are awesome and coffee is above average. Helpful and friendly personnel. I really liked the atmosphere!

Yes, this independent coffee roaster's coffee does taste different. They treat their coffee like wine here with descriptions that sound like, "notes of berries, a hint of nut, with a robust aftertaste". But the pastries here...they're all baked in house.... Amazing! I almost felt like I was in France!

My favorite local coffee shop to grab drinks, pastries, beans and fresh sourdough. The coffee and espresso drinks are constantly yummy, and pleasantly uncomplicated. Staff is always pleasant and welcoming, and can offer up insight if you're not sure which drink or snack to grab. With plenty of seating and a bustling but never cramped environment, it's a fantastic place to meet up with friends or get some work done. The shop is well decorated with plenty of warm wood balancing the concrete floors and metal accents. I especially appreciate the small jungle of leafy friends on the shelves and the giant map of South America overlooking the communal center table. I give Matchstick a 5/5, because out of the 10+ coffee spots in my neighborhood, this one fits me just right.

After visiting this cafe a handful of times, I feel safe to give them a full rating. These guys are going above and beyond what a conventional Canadian cafe provides and they're doing it well. The food is spot on, and the staff is efficient. Longer waits might not make this the best quick-stop for caffeine needs. Still, I often stop by Matchstick on the way to work.
