Drove 1,400 miles to get here. Just to be informed of a mandatory $100 deposit on a debit card, something me and my wife weren't informed about while calling them about deposits or fees for the hotel (Andrew was his name; the excuse from the front night Asian lady was that he was new - ergo the justification of inconveniencing a family with a baby after 1,400 mile drive). Had a standoffish attitude; wondering why I was checking in so late. Looked decent though, for whatever that's worth. Just don't trust a business playing with my $100 in and out of my account after not communicating to me that situation in the first place. Such a shame with how hard it is to find a hotel

We spent the night of our wedding on the way to Orcas Island. Came into the very clean, handicap accessible room to find rose petals in the shape of a heart on the bed and sparkling cider with wine glasses in the refrigerator and a nice card congratulating us. They made changes to our reservation at the last minute after I broke my ankle, we were very happy with our stay and would return anytime.

I stayed two nights at the Marina Inn, on a business trip. After traveling by plane, car, and ferry for more than 2000 miles, I arrived super tired and thirsty. The vending machines only accepted cash and no ATM was available. Of course I had only spare change and this was my mistake. The front desk person looked at me as if I had ten heads when I asked for a way to get some water, suggesting I drink it from the tap. A cold drink of water goes a long way for someone who has spent more than the last twelve hours traveling. The desk person seemed irritated to have to go out of her way to get two small cups of water for me from their kitchen. On the next day I needed to use Marina Inn computer room to print airline boarding passes and was given a snarky reminder that more than three pages of paper are 15 cents each. While my room was clean, the heater blowing all night was loud and kept me awake despite the lowest setting. I got no greeting or friendly word from the front desk staff on coming or going through the lobby. When a person travels nearly across the country to stay in a hotel or inn, to be made to feel unwelcome and/or nickeled and dimed for simple water and paper, there surely must be a more comfortable and friendly place to stay. While I understand not everyone lives in posh Anacortes, WA, some of us staying there could find more welcoming places for lodging than this.
