Really nice interior, it’s bright and clean and very red, so you know it’s all about the spicy food. **FREE PARKING **, but ask the staff which reserved spots to park at. I also liked how the skewer containers are embedded in the table, so there isn’t a bulky container sitting on top of your table. They’re primarily known for their $0.69/ea Chengdu-style skewers in a spicy soup base or spicy dry sauce base. Head over to the fridge to pick your skewers, and the staff will prepare it for you. They’ll count the number of skewers at the end to determine the total price. I will note that it can get pricy since the skewers aren’t very filling. I’d recommend ordering some sides and maybe some bowls of rice if you want a full meal. Can’t handle the extreme spice, but enjoy spicy food like me? Don’t worry, you can ask them to bring you a bowl of hot water to rinse it. Some other items I tried: Quail Eggs $8.50 – pretty good portion, and they’re well marinated. House Special Fish Fillet $14 – This was one of my favourites, I recommend getting it with the house special green pepper sauce which is milder. I don’t mind going spicier for beef/pork, but I like my fish and vegetables slightly less spicy. Crispy Chicken Knees $11.50 – super super crispy, and if you’re a fan of the cartilage from chicken knees, you’ll enjoy this. House Special Beef $12 – pretty tender as well, but it does get super spicy since the spices get lodged into the meat. Strawberry Slush $6.50 – on the sweet side, but I enjoyed the pudding in the drink Special Lemon Tea $6 – also on the sweet side, and tastes like a lemonade Overall a comfortable dining experience, that can accommodate a larger party. Food and flavour wise, it’s great if you enjoy spicy food.
I was excited to try out this new Sichuan restaurant but the outcome was not as good as I have hoped. The Sheep’s brain: they cleaned the brain really well as it wasn’t smelly. Duck blood: too much green pepper which took away the flavour. Quail egg: it was simply a regular quail egg with chili flakes. Potatoes: it’s the most spicy dish among all but again, too peppery. Fried rice: nothing special about it and wasn’t even a good fried rice. Pork slices: crispy but dry. Chwan Chwan soup base: was pretty disappointed because it’s lack of flavour. Spicy and numb are feelings not flavours, this soup base doesn’t taste like anything but oily liquid filled with chili. Lemon tea: refreshing and delicious, would definitely order it again given a chance. All in all, every dish tastes genuinely the same and is lack of characteristics. For the price we paid, definitely not worth it. 2 stars are for service and drinks.
Great place! Got to be here for the one year anniversary and had the all you can eat menu. Very friendly service. Food options are broad. 0.69 per skewer or 34.99 for the all you can eat option. You can easily make the return as they are single item skewers. Oh the soup base is charged separately. Will come again.
I visited today and was thoroughly impressed with my experience. The customer service was top-notch - the staff were friendly, attentive, and accommodating throughout my entire meal. The food was also excellent. I ordered a dish that was described as spicy and it definitely lived up to its name - it had just the right amount of heat and flavor to make it a truly memorable meal. What's more, the prices were very reasonable, especially given the high quality of the food and service.
Awesome food and service, cutest plates and cups!!! The soup base Is spicy, even the.mild ones, you should definitely try if you like Szechuan food. Love the marinated beef chwan chwan, the taste of Chinese black pepper Is right on point Plus you can park at the visitor parking, they will reimbursed 1 hour parking on bill, very detailed service.
I like their Chengdu style spicy, really authentic and the food was served in a timely manner
Overall experience is good. The staff are friendly and helpful. 1. Sheep Brain - there are no smell. Covered with cooked bean sprouts. 2. Rabbit meat - it taste good. It is a bone in rabbit meat and covered with lots of bean sprouts 3. Dry mix skewers - you can select your own skewer and they will cook it for you. 4. Musan King Durian balls - Crispy and delicious - I would buy this again to eat it. There are parking lot available by the restaurant but you will have to pay.
I can't handle spicy too much but I enjoy coming here occasionally. I like the chwan chwan soup more than the chwan chwan with the dry mix! I thought the dry chwan chwan was extremely spicy, I could barely eat it The strawberry drink they have is great, I get it each time Food: 4/5
I normally don’t eat spicy food but I was willing to give it a try and their food totally worth the try. They still have non-spicy appetizers that are similar to Cantonese cuisine. And my favourite part is their jelly dessert and lime drink.
It’s finally fall, which means time for some spicy food! Recent tried out Maojiaohuola, and it became one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Richmond. We ordered 40 skewers under medium spicy, sweet potato vermicelli, house special tripes, duck blood, beef tongue, crispy pork slices, red bean shaved ice, house special ice jelly & brown sugar ciba. My top 3 favs were: 1⃣ Beef tongue 2⃣ Sweet potato vermicelli 3⃣ Red bean shaved ice Great to have after all the spicy food Will definitely come back again!
