From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. The décor, lighting, and energy of the place instantly set the mood for a fun night out.nThe food was absolutely outstanding — every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can tell that a lot of care goes into both the cooking and the service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always smiling, which made the whole experience even better. Shoutout Bill our server was amazing great drink recommendation and food recommendation. I left with a full stomach, a big smile, and memories of a fantastic night. I can’t wait to come back again
We decided to try Major Tom after hearing so many good things, so we arrived with pretty high expectations. The place was packed, which is expected on a Saturday night, but that’s also where our disappointment started.nWe ordered a few starters, and none of them really impressed us. The Major Tots were just okay. The oysters — which our server highly recommended — were honestly the most flavorless oysters I’ve ever had. The tuna crudo was fine, but nothing memorable.nThe biggest letdown, though, was the drinks. Hard to believe a place with this reputation can’t make a decent Caesar. My wife ordered two different cocktailsHanami and Butterfly Elbows, and both were very underwhelming — nothing special at all.nTo highlight something positive, the duck was excellent — definitely the standout of the night, however our waiter mention that 1 will be good amount for 2, not at all. Service at the door was great and friendly, but inside the restaurant felt chaotic, maybe just because it was a busy Saturday.nOn top of all that, the whole experience was very pricey for the quality of the food and drinks we got. Overall, maybe we came in with expectations that were too high, but the visit didn’t quite live up to the hype.
Overall, great atmosphere albeit pretty loud ambience. The good was simple but elevated experience, my favourite was their endive salad. The chicken was good, crispy, tender but also over salted. Burger had a nice brisket with over-seasoned fries.nnWe had a good experience overall, and the prices are very reasonable given the location and view and overall food quality and portions. Would definitely return!
Fantastic drop in experience that surpassed all expectations.nnThe food was delicious and filling. With the duck being a particular highlight. Rich, full of flavour without stripping the actual flavour of duck out and being tender while not void of texture. The entrees were delightfully flavourful and service was prompt, polite and attentive.nWe opted for a quick power lunch of two entrees and a main and left far more filled than we could have expected.nI only had the peach old fashioned but if that was anything to go by I think any cocktail there is a good bet.nnThe atmosphere was clean, cosy and luxurious. With decor within being art deco/ mid century and put together with such great attention to detail that you had as much a view inside as you did looking out the window.nnAnd goodness is the view from the window something to behold. No camera of mine would do it justice but seeing the Calgary skyline and mountains in the distance was spectacular for still being in the downtown area.nnHighly recommend the experience and if you get the stroke of luck I had. Seeing two peregrine falcons fly towards us and perch outside the window momentarily was an external factor but one that made it all the more memorable.
I’m visiting from the United States, and dining at Major Tom Restaurant has been one of the highlights of my trip to Calgary. This is truly one of the best steaks I’ve ever had — and that’s saying something!nnWe ordered two salads, the gnocchi which was rich and flavorful, a large porterhouse steak that was perfectly cooked, plus a few sides and desserts. Every single dish was outstanding. The quality, presentation, and flavors were top-notch.nnTo top it all off, the restaurant has a stunning view of the city, which made the experience even more memorable. The service was excellent, and the overall vibe was refined yet welcoming.nnI will definitely be coming back the next time I’m in Calgary. If you’re looking for an incredible steakhouse experience, this place is a must-visit.
