Best Vietnamese food in YEG! My girlfriend who is from Vietnam recommended Mai Mai to me and I couldn't go fast enough. The spring rolls were to die for, so fresh and different from any others I have tried. The vermicelli bowls were also incredible and so fresh! The staff were sweet and helpful and it was very clean. We will definitely be back
Had a fun casual lunch at Mai Mai! We had mostly snack food: mini crepes, chicken wings, and chicken skewers. All were very good. Also celebrated with a couple of yummy mock tails. Service was also very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back!
Went here with a couple friends, we were really excited. Everything was ok but just ok. The bánh khọt and they weren’t fully cooked in the middle, the bun rieu broth was kind of flavorless but everything inside the soup was good. We got a mixed vermicelli bowl and it pretty good and the pork spring rolls were good too. The drinks were really good I love that they have egg coffee.
Offers some pretty unique Vietnamese dishes not readily available elsewhere. So, there's no pho offered here. Cafe-like setting. Quite enjoyed the skewers. Worth a visit.Food: 4/5
Awesome idea for a Vietnamese restaurant with their street food like dishes. The restaurant itself is chique with nice decor. Staff are super friendly. My favorite dish was the beef la lop salad rolls. Bun rieu was decent. Could use more flavour. I was disappointed in the rare beef salad. Beef was not rare at all more like a medium well and beef itself was chewy and lacking taste. Rice cakes were good. Banh xeo rice crepe was crunchy and delicious. I'd give it place another try.
First time coming here with my bf's family to celebrate the holidays. Got to try a lot of authentic Vietnamese dishes I never knew existed. I got the Vietnamese crepe which was a lot larger to eat then I expected. It also had some coconut oil or something coconut mixed into it adding a hint of sweetness. It was definitely a flavourful combination I never thought I would have gotten to experience. It wasn't for me, but I liked the concept of the food overall. Also tried their grilled lemongrass chicken Bahn Mi and they don't skimp out on loading that thing up. Definitely a place I'd love to check out again to try some others. Pho infused alcohol and fries were also a fun addition to the menu. Def a good place to get a small or large bite. The space isn't very large so smaller groups are probably better.
Love this new restaurant for more specialty Vietnamese dishes! Their spring rolls are made with rice paper and it makes such a nice difference. Love the mini crepes they are so crispy and flavourful! I went twice in a week and ordered the same dishes cause they were so yummy! My husband really enjoyed the beef stew. Very tender meat!Recommended dishesMini Crepes
So delicious and I'm glad it's in the river bend area. Also more authentic as the dishes we had I've never seen on other Vietnamese restaurant menus. They do have the usual rice noodle dishes, salad rolls, and Bahn mi, we tried a savory crepe dish, fried rice patty topped with papaya salad, and salad rolls that also had spring rolls inside. I will definitely be back!
Please read and see if I’m right to give them a 2 star review. I had heard so many good things about this place from my sister who went there regularly. When I heard they had a seasonal Bun Rieu, I was super excited. Being that it was seasonal I called to confirm that it would still be there next week when I intended to visit them. So 2 days later I packed 2 kids with me and made a visit. Checked that the item was still in the menu board I even took a picture. Made my order and the waitress even repeated it back to me. Ordered a bunch of appetizers and some sandwiches as my kids wanted them. The pork spring roll was heavenly. I could have just had that and went home. The shrimp cakes were okay, not my favourite but I could tell they were done properly. The pork and shrimp salad rolls were not good. The sandwiches were hit and miss. One of them was the beef one and my son loved it. The other one was their specialty and we asked for no carrots. They sent it with no vegetables and loaded it up with this over powering sauce that made it inedible. We could even finish it, that’s how bad it was. So I’m sitting there patiently waiting for my soup Bun Rieu, the entire reason for the trip. Finally I could see that everyone who came after us had their meals and there was something wrong. So I asked the waitress where my soup was? “What, you ordered that? We have been out and don’t have any” I couldn’t believe it. We were there at 11:30, one of the first and I also ordered it. I was really pissed, but I still gave her a tip because she was very polite and left but I’m definitely not going back. There’s definitely a communication problem here as I swear I ordered it and even asked my kids if I was losing my mind. The kids said “nope, you definitely ordered it, she even repeated your order back to you”. The sandwich was also an issue as you ask for no carrots means “no carrots”., it doesn’t mean “no veggies and soak the sandwich in sauce.” So, in summary, for the trip, 3 people came, one person got an inedible sandwich, one person got no soup, and one person enjoyed his sandwich. The pork spring rolls were awesome. The salad rolls were bad. The shrimp cakes were good but not to everyone’s taste.
Came here for lunch and was very impressed with the menu options, quality of food, and service. Tried the mini shrimp crepes, the salad rolls, and the vermicelli lemongrass chicken and beef, separately. The mini shrimp crepes were definitely unique but I found them too oily for my taste. Happy I tried them once but I probably wouldn't order again. Salad rolls were so delicious. They were nice enough to make an all shrimp one for us and it was delicious, as was the hoisin sauce served with it a little kick to it with the addition of a hot sauce. Also really enjoyed the vermicelli, as well as the presentation more deconstructed. Although we didn't try any mocktails or alcoholic drinks, very impressed with the options - many looked appealing. Service was excellent and it has a cute but casual vibe. Would definitely come again!
