The guy running it and his cats just out here living their best lives. Camp ground is small but large spaces, clean, and anyone leaving a bad review has clearly never been "camping" we have been pooping in a bucket for years because we usually don't go to paid campgrounds but we were in a bind. Everyone was friendly and campground was quiet. Great for kids too!
About 31 years ago I started coming to Mahaffeys it's been a long time about 15 years ago But I still was so amazed by how beautiful it is!
Beautiful spot on the river a little rocky but the water is pristine. Owners are really nice and fun to talk to! There are electrical outlets and water spigots at every corner, and despite the rustic exterior appearance of the showers, they are quite nice on the inside. My campsite was directly in the smell funnel of the Honey Bucket porta potty, unfortunately. The whole area smelled like porta potty and i needed to move my tent. Otherwise, a pleasant experience
cute little campground. bathrooms weren’t great but everything else was - owner was nice, location was cool, and the owner’s cats were adorable :
We have stayed at Mahaffey's for the summer months for about 10 years. The couple who manage the campground take great care to keep it safe and quiet. The location on the river is terrific for fishing and swimming. If you want a serene place to camp this it!
The river was nice but that is it. The park is run down and the bathroom is just weird. Not a good place. Wanted to leave but did not want to waist money. Trust me it is not worth it
Campground built in the early 70s by the late Harry Mahaffey. The bathrooms are still one of the old logging camp trailers Harry himself brought in. Though it saw its heyday then, it's still a nice, quiet place along the beautiful Kalama River.
Nice campground, right on the Kalama river. Quiet, the long term campers keep to themselves, not a big party place. The Mahaffey family themselves camp in the campground regularly and riff raff is kept out. Good place to camp with your family and they allow pets as long as they are quiet and cleaned up after.
I'm a avid camper/fisherman, and of all the places I've stayed, this was the best. It's like someplace out of any sports magazine. It's quite, easy to access, located on one of the best steelhead and salmon rivers anywhere. Soon I'll be selling my place in Texas, and relocate close to there. The whole area is a sportsman's paradise.
I lived at this place for 17 months so believe me when I say it is the most disgusting park I've been to!!! The managers never clean the bathrooms and showers so you have to fight the spiders and webs over your clean cloths, not to mention the shower it's self, gross!!! Then that awesome shuttle service is ILLEGAL he has no business liscense or showfers liscense and if the IRS See's this he makes at least $20,000 a year, when I asked him if he paid taxes on it he just laughed. They discriminate on monthly renters No Single women are allowed to stay there and the only couples allowed are those who were coming before they took over management. They have a Electrical maintenance tax that they don't tell you about which the owners use for whatever they want, that is ILLEGAL! If you call it a tax for something specific then state law says that's the only thing it can be used for! I was put under a 300 foot tall Black Walnut tree without any warning that they could cause damage to my RV. Well as beautiful as that tree is it broke two vent lids, stove vent cover, air conditioner cover, porch light and the topper was when one shattered my skylight in the bathroom. All together almost $1000.00 along with the about $800.00 they got in that FAKE ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE TAX! MY ADVICE IS TO STAY AWAY FROM THESE SLUMLORDS!
