Madeline Bertrand is located south of Niles and offers a public area of natural beauty along the St. Joseph River. The park has over 5 miles of hiking trails, 18 Hole Disc Golf Course, Pro-Shop, facility rentals, picnic areas, and cross country skiing.
Madeline Bertrand is home to an 18 hole Disc Golf Course that was designed by Steady Ed Headrick, father of disc golf and founder of DGA. The course winds through the woods and was built in 1985. You can play as many rounds as you like for only $4 a day and $3 for kids 15 and under.
There is a daily parking fee of $3 for Berrien County residents and $5 on the weekends for non-residents. Last tee-off for the disc golf course is always one hour before closing.
Madeline Bertrand offers three hiking trails ranging from 1.2 miles to 2.3 miles in length. Bicycling is permitted on specified trail only May-October.
Dogs are allowed in the park, but must be leashed at all times. (Dogs are not permitted on the ski trails.) We ask that you clean up after your pet and properly dispose of any waste.
Join us when snow conditions permit CROSS COUNTRY SKIING. We offer three groomed trails of varying difficulty ranging from 1/2 mile to 2 1/2 miles. Ski rentals and trail passes are available in the Topenebee Shelter.
Ski trails are only open to hiking when there is no snow.
Winter Walking Trail is a combination of disc golf fairways and forest with scenic views along the northern ridge, looking down into the St. Joseph River floodplain. Approximate length is 3/4 mile.
