Lyman KOA

Story

Warm days, cool nights and a view of the soaring Uinta Mountains make this quiet, grassy campground an inviting spot to visit. And when you spend a night, you're joining a steady parade of travelers who've stopped here since mountain man Jim Bridger built his trading post along the Oregon and Mormon trails in 1843. The Lyman KOA is a short drive from the re-created post (some original buildings) of Fort Bridger State Historic Site. Visit Labor Day weekend to catch the Mountain Man Rendezvous, complete with black powder and buckskins. You'll find plenty of comforts at the campground, including a pool, a game room, basketball, sand volleyball and a pet walk. When you're ready for more adventures, drive an hour east to 91-mile-long Flaming Gorge Reservoir for great boating and fishing plus hiking and biking along mountain trails.

This camping spot was a very pleasant surprise. We called while driving, about two hours out yet so it was dark when we got there. There were no problems with checking in, our map was hanging on the board. Each and every campsite was grass! After being out west for quite a while we'd forgot how lovely grass is. It was a very welcome experience. The campgrounds were very quiet and the the restrooms and showers were adequate. The showers were very small, but had hot water. We'd stop here again.

This camp grounds was OK for a quick one night stay. Pool was nice, warm and clean. Play ground looked nice. Camp store was nice. Now for the rest of the story. We planned on staying there 6 days we bugged out 2 days early. There was nothing to do in area with out a drive of miles and miles. They put us in back off the campgrounds lawn looked like a hay field, what was green was alfalfa and needed to be cut bad. The lot next to us must have had a water main break there was a puddle of water looked like coming up from ground.

Staff is friendly, water is delicious, park is clean and quiet. Pool is fun, bathrooms are kept in good shape. Easy pull through access. It's my second year going to this park, it will continue to stay on our rotation, we always have fun. Bring plenty of masquito repellent and sunscreen.

The people went above and beyond. Everyone from the girl who answered the phone to the people behind the counter. The grounds were clean and well maintained. We will definitely stay there again. Thank you Lyman KOA

The park is neat and well run. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Although we didn't use the swimming pool it appeared clean and tidy. The camp store had all the essentials The showers were hot clean and had good water pressure. The only reason I have it at three stars is that there just isn't much to do in the areas without driving quite some distance. Ok this camp is in Wyoming and the folks out there are use to driving a lot so that may not be a valid point. If youre a fan of star gazing this is a great place for evening sky's. Although we were only there for one evening, now that we know it's there it will go on our list of pleasant stops the next time we are on the way north. BTW we don't often give a 5 star review so three stars is in most cases much better than average.
