Los Banditos offers decent food overall. A little more spicy then what I would prefer at times but manageable. The atmosphere reminds me of a mix of an older super club and my grandparents basement... It's just gives you an old school feel. The specialty tacos I had where jerk chicken tacos. They where delicious overall but for $10 you get 2 tacos with no sides. The menu is a mix of Mexican food, American and Italian. I would say definitely not a traditional Mexican restaurant but the food is decent.
Really would like to give a better review but our experience would not warrant this. Ordered our drinks. Soda and Mojito. She rushed us through ordering so quickly that we didn't even get a chance to give her our appetizer order. She brought my mojito and I should have looked at it first. However, my mouth was on fire from the salsa i tried and I just had to put the fire out! As you can see from my pictures the mint was rotten. It tasted like soap and no alcohol. We immediately decided to leave when the water tasted bad like soap too. This is our wedding anniversary dinner and we don't want to take any chances of possibly getting sick. We brought it to the attention of the waitress right away. She told us one of the owners happened to be there and she rushed to go show them the drink and talk. After she talked to the owner about it and returned to our table we offered to pay for the entire order but would not be eating it. She said no, there would be no charge and apologized profusely. I understand that sometimes things happen but this was too many mistakes in a row for me. I also found it odd the owner didn't come talk to us themselves. That may have redeemed them in my eyes. Now it just shows the lack of care or interest in their own business. If they don't care about the restaurant then we definitely made the right decision to leave and I am hard pressed to bother with them again. So disappointed.
Food tasted amazing. Portion sizes are excellent. Has a great atmosphere. Service was great. Could not ask for a better experience. Thank you.
If anyone ever recommends dining here, or at El Sarape, Los Magueyes or virtually any other similar Mexican restaurant in Green Bay, ignore that recommendation. Anyone who says the food is good has either drunk themselves silly or singed off their tastebuds. Let’s get the obvious out of the way: Los Banditos’ cuisine is no where near authentic. There’s nothing wrong with that alone. However, if a restaurant is going to provide Americanized Mexican food, the food should taste good and not be of poor quality. I experienced neither good tasting food nor quality, unfortunately. It was painfully obvious that each diner’s food was the same messy glob of microwaved, unseasoned and cheap food. The ambiance of the restaurant felt like walking into either a funeral home or perhaps your grandma’s dingy cellar. Although, some could argue that a funeral home is still somehow more inviting. The conclusion? Save your time and money by avoiding this restaurant, along with any similar restaurants. As ridiculous as this sounds, the money you spend here could buy you several more meals at a fast food joint, and I guarantee you’d have a better experience.
It is American Mexican food. If you're looking for authentic this is not the place. Had bean dip and a mushroom enchilada. Both lacked seasoning but good enough to fill me up. Portion size is great. Big and plentiful. Service good. Atmosphere fine. Some nice art on the walls.
Was told there was a 35 min wait for a table. No problem, we’ll just sit at the bar and wait. Almost 2 hours later we left before we got a table. Pro tip there are a bunch of seats by the bar that say for diners only, just go up to the host and say you’ll take that table and you’ll jump in front of everyone that’s waiting. This experience made me realize “Karen’s”aren’t born they’re made.
When we were seated, this chips and salsa were already on the table. I looked around and all the vacant tables had chips and salsa on them. That’s just gross. God knows how long they are sitting out. It takes only a moment to bring them to the table, you aren’t saving any time by doing this. I feel like it’s a health code violation to have them sitting out. My friends wanted to eat here, but I was hesitant after seeing this. My food was pretty good. Others in my party liked their food, but their entrees did not look very appetizing. The margaritas were good and the waitress was AMAZING. I may come back, but I won’t eat the chips that have been sitting out, I will need to ask for a new basket.
We got there about 8:45pm and when we sat down our waitress Heidi rushed us to order stating they are closing the kitchen at 9. I had three other family members joining us so I had to call them to get there order. Our appetizers came at the same time as our food and when they brought our entrees we were missing a whole plate. We brought this to our waitress's attention and she rudely stated well I'm not bringing it out so one of our family members had to watch us all eat and because we were upset and made a deal of it she said keep it up and I'll cancel your fried ice cream and cheesecake we had ordered. She never brought our dessert, never refilled our empty drinks, and ended up upsetting my little guy so bad he cried. I can't believe what a horrible experience we had here. What a waste of our time and money and we can't get either back.
This restaurant was highly recommended, so we decided to come here for a double date. We arrived around 7 pm on a Saturday evening. We were told it would be a wait, or we could sit at one of the bar tables. We chose a bar table. Each bar table has four chairs, and it would be fine if your just having drinks and sharing a appetizer. However, with four of us eating, the table was far too small, and we could barley fit our plates at the table. I wish the host would have mentioned that prior to letting us know it was a option. We would have waited for a full size table. To begin, our friends ordered the mango margaritas, which they thought were fine. I ordered a red wine sangria. It was very disappointing. It had a brown cloudy color and I couldn't taste any hint of wine or fruit what so ever. It tasted like they put brandy in it or some other alcohol. I was contemplating whether they had served me the wrong drink. One of my friends ordered the fajitas. This was the one good looking dish of the evening. It came out nice and hot, condiments and tortillas on the side. It was messy to assemble, but all of us were wishing we had ordered that instead of our choices. My other friend ordered the chimichanga. which she said was fine. The rice was overcooked and had the same texture as the refried beans though. My fiancé ordered the two tacos, selecting pulled beef as his meat. The meat was very bland at the bottom of the taco, ad it was 75% lettuce on top of the meat. They were ok tasting, but something we could easily make at home. I ordered the enchilada, choosing seafood as the filling. The seafood was imitation crab and shrimp. They were very generous with the serving of meat. The enchilada did not taste baked. It seemed like they put hot filling in the tortilla and put sauce over it. Due to the excessive sauce, it was very soggy. Also, paring a red sauce with seafood wasn't a good combination. They should have opted for a green chili sauce with the seafood filling. Our waiter was really great and attentive. We stayed for quite a while and the bar tender kept coming over and interrupting our conversation, I think in hopes to sell more drinks. That was off putting. Overall, we wouldn't go back.
This place has its diehard fans , so I definitely recommend checking it out. I loved the atmosphere and the staff are awesome! Food wise, seemed a bit too Tex mex for me ..wasn’t bad , but I like a more authentic menu, just my personal taste. Overall I’d say 3.5 out of 5, but you should go check it out …good place for a date, too.
