I only stopped in here due to the fact I was staying at the hotel. I order the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Which was not bad definitely crispy fresh sandwich. Stayed to watch the Vikings game with some of my coworkers and that’s when the service went down hill. To be fair they close at 8pm on Monday which no one was aware. The food and drinks did take a while to get to our table. Definitely convenient place to stay if your at the hotel but definitely have had better food and service
I ate here as I was staying at the restaurant. Ordered salad & cheese curds to go. Server was friendly, food was prepared accurately & in a timely manner.
My family and I had a great meal here. The service was friendly our waitress Patricia was the biggest sweet heart, the food was great PS make sure to order the cheese curds!! and the atmosphere was very welcoming. I read some of the bad reviews a couple weeks ago about Poke the Bear and I almost didn't eat here because of all the bad vibes on google. BUT I really do think you should give this place a try because we had a lovely dinner!
If I could give it less than 1 star I would. The aesthetic is confusing with lockers on the wall and plush leather accents, am I eating in a gym changing room located in a cigar lounge? The first of 3 people who came to our table offered water and when we had a question about a drink she said "ask your waiter". Fair enough but come to find out she was the bartender and could have simply gave an answer instead of seeming rude. When our server did show up, despite the lack of eye contact, he was very accommodating and did seem busy as I didn't see anyone else serving and it took him a while to make it to our table. The 3rd person to show up was running our food to the table, brought us another salad which we already had and when we were missing our additional sauces we ordered just walked away while being told they are missing just seems like a lack of communication in the restaurant. Our server quick fixed this situation when he came to the table but the steak was terrible and we could not even sip on the "cocktails" as they were that bad. Overall for the price this place just is not worth it, don't waste your time and money.
As someone who has worked in the industry for 18 years I can say that this was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. I was hesitant leaving such a harsh review as I know it is a relatively new restaurant. The service was okay. The steak frittes... not sure if it is the quality of the steak or the way it's cooked but it was cooked very unevenly. I had ordered it med rare. It was very chewy and a little fatty. It just seemed microwaved and then seared. It may not have been but that's what it tasted like. When I politely told the waiter, he was accommodating and spoke with the cook who offered another. I was over halfway through my meal at this point so I told him I appreciated it but it was pointless. I thanked him for being accommodating. Following this, we heard A LOT of slamming around in the kitchen. Not sure if it's a coincidence but it was loud as we were seated right by the kitchen. The drinks were also terrible. We couldn't even choke them down. When I asked the bar tendera bout the creme de blackberry in the drink I wanted to order, she told me to ask my SERVER?? Anyway, this is actually the first time I have ever left a bad review of any sort so our experience, in fact, was that bad. The person running our food was pretty unfriendly and cut me off when my meal came without the 2 sauces I had asked for and stated to tell my server. This was odd since she was running the food. She couldn't have just grabbed it quick? Just disappointing. Our server was nice and did work with me on having a dairy-free meal which I very much appreciated.
Had lunch there, sat at bar. One person working the bar/restaurant area, only one other table dining in. Ordered pretzel bites and chicken club sandwich. Service pretty slow but friendly. Pretzel bites bland, cheese sauce bland as well. Chicken club constructed well, except rather dry. All in all okay, just didn't blow my mind.
The bartender was very social and felt genuine towards his guests. Gave us his honest opinion on food options and kept our glasses fullFood: 4/5
A fantastic footballcentric sports bar that serves as a clever cover for a fine dining experience. You get what you want out of Poke the Bear. If you just want a beer and a burger, they'll hook you up. If you want an elegant cocktail carefully muddled to refresh you while you enjoy fresh locally sourced food prepared by a chef with a worldly mind, that's here, too.
Great location! Food was very delicious. Cheese curds were a bit over breaded but very tasty. Waitress Jini was very friendly and professional!
Good food. Great drinks. The bartender Bobbie was very nice and helpful with food recommendations. I had the Reuben with onion rings to eat and the were prepared awesomely. I would definitely go back again. The raspberry ginn Rickey was also very tasty.
