Long & McQuade Musical Instruments

These guys really know their stuff in there great to work with and I continue going back over and over again to buy more gear.

Although there is another music store closer to my home, Long & McQuade is our go-to shop, and lessons centre. STORE: The staff in the store are friendly, helpful, and very engaging. Every time we walk in we're greeted with a smile and a hello, and they work hard to make sure we're well taken care of and comfortable. They have happily examined and estimated repair costs for a number of instruments, and have helped tweak the setup on several of my guitars - all at no charge. They even offered to set up an account for me when I needed a set of strings, but forgot my wallet. Regardless of your skill or level of knowledge, they will help without being condescending or snobbish. I couldn't be happier with the levels of service that they maintain - and the inventory is nothing to sneeze at either! LESSONS CENTRE: My kids have been taking guitar lessons from Jared and Spencer for nearly a year, and they have improved by leaps and bounds. They both started as complete novices, and are tackling new songs and techniques every week. One in particular has completely fallen for the guitar, and can't walk by a guitar without picking it up to play. I couldn't be a bigger fan of the informal, interest-driven teaching style that they embrace. They ask the students about their interests, and tailor the lessons to align with those interests and styles. When I was a kid, lessons were painful, and practicing the same drills over and over again nearly stamped the love of music out of me. I only wish I'd had the same sorts of lessons that my kids are getting at L&M; as it was, I quit lessons early on, thinking that I could never actually learn to play an instrument if I had to suffer through the rigid structure. I'm pleased that my kids are getting better, but absolutely delighted that if anything, the lessons are actively feeding their love of music.

Great place to shop, always a great selection and the people who work there are genuinely nice. If you live near or are passing through I'd highly recommend stopping in

Whenever I shop there I am treated with utmost respect and they give their own opinions on instruments/items you're interested in but unsure and point you to the right direction
